OK, numpty question here: Is this an all year round thing? Does it get too hard to ride in thick mud in the winter? Or is it like MX where it gets better
I've ridden in foot deep sludge in deepest darkest winter
ridden in snow
just wrap up warm & wear decent gear & you'll be able to cope with most conditions

It gets harder, not impossible but it is a lot harder

Has anyone signed up to the cycle to work scheme?
My voucher is taking *forever* to come through - any idea how long it should be?
Also (if anyone's interested), I went for a 2010 Cube Attention
Not necessarily the best specced hardtail out there, but I think it looks good and more importantly rides well! very comfortable and the gear changes are 10x slicker than the Hardrock Pro

Good choice with a Cube. I got the Cube Team Ltd earlier in the year.
Ended up badly spraining both my wrists after going over the bars so I am sticking to road riding mostly now!
Have to say thumbs up as far as the Cube is concerned. Cost me around £950 and I have had a couple of road bikes at a similar price (Specialized and a Focus) and I have to say the Cube is by far the best built and the best quality.
So impressed I plan on getting a Cube road bike next spring. As you say, very slick. My road bikes have similar level Shimano stuff but somehow Cube just have it all put together better and it hasn't had any of the problems my road bikes have suffered like spokes going loose and having to be trued up every 30 miles.
