Hi all, I need ninja help as I can not decide which bike to get. My missus picked up her new bike last week, a 06 cbr 600rr with 2400m on the clock and yoshi and all for 3800 and ever since then, I have been itching to get something too. I have narrowed it down to Honda SP2 Honda Fireblade 04-06 Zx6r 05-06 GSXR 750 05-07 Aprilia Factory 05 only But I only have a budget of 4000. Obviously if the right bike came along, then sure I can add a little bit more but not really willing to stretch much more as this is only going to be used as a 3rd bike. I have my ducati’s for the Sunday blasts and trackdays so this is just going to be an all weather, unlimited mileage bike. My preferred bike is the SP2 but all pretty high mileage at my budget. There are some fireblades that are around that price but don’t come with much and will need some tlc. Any ninja advice appreciated^^

Had a brand new one of those, but it got stolen from the dealership during its 1st service. This was in mcn a few years ago if some may remember.
Lovely bike, but I'm not sure how reliable and build quality is compared to the big H.
I have been looking at them, but everytime i think of buying one, I kinda remember the day it was stolen...
not a nice thought...

And if I narrowed down to the fireblade vs SP2? Which one would you choose and which one would be more reliable?
Btw, I see some bikes being listed in Ireland. Would I have to register the bike etc if I bring it to the UK or is it the same as a uk purchase?
Thanks:)

i 'think' you have a certain amount of time to re register it on uk plates and tax it, i believe there's a difference between northern and southern too with regard to what you need to do
both bikes would be reliable, fireblade probably has a wider range of parts / accessories readily availble and 2nd hand where as the sp2's goodies still command a high price tag due to a strong following and a HRC label
neither would be a bad buy if you like twins.... i'm not keen on them so i'd go for the fireblade. You'd also lose less on the blade as you chuck the miles on it

SP2 for me all day....I still have a wobbly lip over Deedubs recent sale and my remarkable lack of available folding dosh considering the amount I've spunked over the years. ...there is just no justice in the world

SP2 would be my choice but really depends on what it would be used for ie commuting or just a weekend play thing

All weather unlimited mileage bike???
Don't you dare ruin an HRC legend like that! Fireblade every day of the week. SP2 is not the bike for all seasons, Blade would be the much better bet.

I would try and get a very mint SP1 or a tidy SP2 (The SP2 is the better bike, but nothing that can't be solved with a rear sprocket and a power commander as I understand it).
Get something with some character is my advise... Failing the SP1, What about a 954RR Fireblade? it's the one to have I think.

Yep, i pretty much agree.
My heart would say SP1/2 for character, noise, weekend blasts and a touch of exclusivity, whereas my head would say Blade for all year riding/commuting/euro trips etc etc. Faster also, but much blander.

id go for the Sp2 but I'm biased aswell more character, cooler, more focused, relatively rare (for a honda anyway!) will hold its value better aswell i suspect so long as its looked after. Not as quick as blade, that didn't matter to me though
