Bike Talk / B1 value advice please
August 20, 2013, 04:15:31 PM
Hola

James' step brother is going to look at one near us this evening. It's parked outside the house near us. I've just gone to look at it and the guy came home.

It's a green one, 24k on the clock, two fobs, two keys, some service history, carbon can

£2595.

These are my observations  ;) I've learnt a bit from you guys and gals it seems

Small scrapes on the engine casing and fairing.
Mirrors don't match at all
One bar end scraped
One rear set bracket different
Oil tank bit has a chunk of paint missing
Chain and sprockets filthy, may need replacing
Tyres show it's been on track or ridden in a spirited fashion  ;)

Chap came home just as I was logging all this in my phone. Seemed nice enough, has only had it a few weeks but needs to sell to buy a new work van or something like that.

He bought it from another islander but doesn't know if it had its big service or not.
He hadn't noticed some of the things I pointed out lol.

It started ok and sounded healthy enough ticking over nicely. He was happy enough for me to take it out if I wanted to.

Personally I think it's too much bike for the young man interested in it.

However if his heart is set and he wants it, what do you guys think its worth?

I've looked about and just seen one with low mileage on bike trader for 2.5k

Cheers folks

I've not been around for a while thanks to work and home being hectic and here I am being cheeky asking for lots of help and advice all of a sudden  :embarrassed:

So the wall is down in our new home and the plans made for a kitchen diner.

We've chosen the units from B&Q but having a scout around one can get the appliances a lot cheaper online.

So far I've checked out

Ebay
Appliances online
and taps uk

We are sorted for hob, fridge freezer and washing machine.

We need to source, an upright radiator, a sink, slimline dishwasher, electric BIG under counter oven, a bi fold door for the larder ( normal sized door ) tiles ( metro brick style ) errrm I think that's it.

If any of you lovely ninjas have any bargain places for us to check out that aren't the obvious places then mucho appreciated for the info.

Bike Talk / Putting a bike to bed for seven months
August 07, 2013, 02:40:27 PM
James leaves for another deployment next week. No point in having three bikes on the road for me to ride so the Blade is being SORN.

Apart from trickle charge and fuel stablizer (sp) stuff any other advice for whilst it's in hibernation.

May also be for sale in the spring if anyone is interested in a well looked after 2007 HM Plant Blade

Bike Talk / Insurance - claim or not to claim?
August 05, 2013, 01:02:00 PM
Some of you would have seen on face ache that I had a 'bump' into a back of a car last weekend thanks to a bullying on coming coach. Ironically I know the girl I hit, driving her Dad's car.

Damage to the R6 was indicators, paint scrapes, engine casing scrapes and clutch lever.

Damage to car - bumper scraped but can't remember if I dented it or not. ( was all of a dither to take pics as was she )

Obviously not much to live with the scrapes and replace lever and lights.

She's now come back with best part of £700 to fix or replace bumper on a laguna estate +VAT but is getting a second quote.

My excess is £350 and even though I have protected no claims, insurance say through that I lose 5yrs of my 9yrs.

I haven't had it confirmed yet but she is saying if I only claim for the work on their car then I shouldn't have to pay the excess unless I claim for the work on the bike too? I've never heard of that before?

So do I claim and get everything done or try and settle it away from insurance?

Sorry if this is all numpty stuff but I've never been in the wars before lol
