Time to dig up an old thread. I FINALLY fitted the 6r sprocket nut and speed pick up sensor to the sprocket cover, wired it all in, fitted a speedo healer and calibrated it..... It's only taken 11 months, but now the dash is fully functional and GPS calibrated

next phase in the project is the 9r engine I bought years ago, and is sat under the stairs waiting for me to do something with it, come back in a year or two and i may have got round to it!

I test rode one (funny ol thing) and really liked it.

Rock solid, good handling and comfy.

Same here  :azn: tested an 03 and wasnt a big fan, then an 05  and loved it, handled great and fixed everything i didn't like about the 03, but I couldn't really afford it sadly so ended up getting the SP1 which was completely differant to either of them

I keep meaning to order some of these as they look pretty handy in videos ive seen for beadbreaking and levering. fair bit smaller than the normal big old bead breakers and i havent got much space for tools!

still need a balancer aswell, but you can get ones that sit ontop of a paddock stand to save space too. Infact i might put both of them on my christmas list!

or dirty contacts in the clutch switch if it has one?
All of them, I regret selling nearly everything I've ever sold, I think I'm a hoarder!

If it wears out just buy a tyre in France. it's not like it's the back of beyond. Don't panic, just enjoy the trip.

Just don't try and get them on a weekend, bunch of workshy garlic munchers don't like working on weekends...

Quite right too, I dont bloody work on weekends either
feeling like id been outdone when the bloke at the engineering shop next door parked a brand new 1199 panigale next to my poor old zxr.....  I was jealous!

Most of them, you have to flip the clamp that goes onto the splined gear selector shaft by 180 degrees. Aslong as it doesn't hit anything it should be fine...

I prefer it, feels more natural to me and I run my ZXR and SP1 with a race shift pattern, haven't worked out how to get my little honda 350 to have a race shift though so I have to use both! I don't need it on the road for the same reason the racers do though obviously just feels nicer!

Blue screen and disk centres and brake lines yuk!

90's period correct details that can be changed easily and cheaply Carbon, have some vision of the potential! Unfortunately has a bunch of blue anodised crap on it too, also easily sorted  ;)

when it comes to zxr's the H2 was a bit better than the H1 (bigger carbs, less rubbish oil filter design, better swingarm, bigger radiator e.t.c) but both of them had cripplingly solid rear ends. The J was supposedly the best handling but less powerful than the H2 or the L but was the lightest by about 10kg, the L was the ugliest (subjective I know!) and probably now the cheapest for a clean example and certainly the fastest thanks to the top end from the homologation K model but without the flatslides.

I'd say the best one to have if you dont want to mess with it is an L, as you do notice the lack of top end power on a J and those extra 18hp actually make a surprisingly large difference! But the J is prettier and the H2 has more retro cool

All the ones folks have said, early blade, zxr,yzf etc...... but id throw a Ducati 748 and an SP1 into the hat for consideration and also purely bercause i think they look cool maybe a Benelli Tornado?

edit, forget the sp1, didnt read the post propperly post 95 doh!   :lipsrsealed:   748 is still a contender though
98 R1 in red and white, and bright yellow Ducati 916... both still 2 of the prettiest sportsbikes ever made in my opinion! There might have even been a harley of some sort on the wall aswell

I still adore the twin round headlight with Hoover tubes 750.
