Well I tried an aftermarket front fairing, wasn't very nice, not a very good fit or match for shape, it'll go back.

From here?

Auctmarts from Hong Kong. Whole set of fairings for less than one side panel oe.
Used them 3 times and had no problems. The fits are good.
Kar Lee from performance bikes rates them too.

It's from a UK distributor, not sure where he gets them from. He's happy to take it back anyway.

I think in the meanwhile, if I don't find a second hand genuine one, I'll pay the £520, know what I'm getting is right and painted, I just don't want to mess around with importing things from HK and having to deal with customs and losing it all if I have to send it back. Unless I know something is genuine, I don't import, I'd find the hassle outweighs spending a bit more.

I guess the genuine one is looking more tempting even at £520, as it'll be right and it'll be painted.

Mechanical / Re: Oil and coolant

Thanks guys. I've got some coolant which I use on my cars, suitable for ally blocks and heads, so long as I can ensure all the old stuff is out so that I know I'm not mixing types, then I'll be ok then. I'm still shocked that even Kawasaki didn't know what it is they put in their bikes.

What companies are known for doing a good job with plastic welding cracks in fairings? Thanks.

Well, I don't blame no one else not knowing. I rang Kawasaki and even they don't know what it is, apart from 'it's green'.

In my service manual, I have the oil spec, but I can't find an antifreeze spec for my '08 6R. What's best to use on this? Also where's best to buy oil, filter and coolant from? Plenty of places around for cars, but only main dealers otherwise. Thanks.

Mechanical / Re: '08 6R Rubber engine mat/cover

To put it back on, I had to remove the throttle bodies. They took the bodies off when removing the engine to sort a mount out for me.

Mechanical / '08 6R Rubber engine mat/cover
March 10, 2014, 09:37:36 PM
Hi all.

On my ZX6R the engine mat has been taken off by the guys who did some work for me. I have no idea why it was taken off, or how the hell it goes back on. It looked as though to me it goes on the engine before the throttle bodies go on. I can't seem to figure a way to get it back in place other than taking the throttle bodies out. I just can't see why it was removed as all they were doing were re doing the engine mounts for me.

Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

I had a look at those, they looked a bit too shiny, didn't look quite right, unless that's just the way they looked from the photo.

What's the import duty like from there?

Thanks Gav.

On the diagram, part 92151, is that meant to touch the engine or just be a few mm apart from the engine do you know?

Mechanical / 08' engine bolts

Hi, can someone show me a photo of their engine bolts on a 07 to 08 ZX6R? I've got the R&G crash bobbins on there at the moment and I want to put it back to standard. So at the moment I'm not sure of the bolt length, whether or not it's a hex head and what fittings should be on there. Thanks.
