Good and bad news, sold.

Happy with the sale, no haggling etc fella was chuffed.

A bit gutter to see her go, owned the bike for nearly 7 years. Longest I've owned anything.

Bikes For Sale / Fore Sale - R1 2002
October 08, 2019, 09:58:31 AM
It's time to sell up and consider my options.
A tough decision but this bike will only be sat in the garage and I'd rather someone enjoyed it.

Yamaha R1 2002
28,152 miles FSH
MOT due 19.04.2020
I've owned this bike for the last 6 and a half years.
Great bike in great condition.
Extras;
Yoshi end can
Power commander
Double bubble screen
short levers
mini indicators
seat cowl
Exhaust hanger
Tyres in very good condition, nearly new.
All standard bits also included.
£2,350

Any comments from here, it seems to be worth around that based on current adverts but happy to listen to others.

Cheers,
David

Looks awesome and the bike I'm considering if I was to chop in my 2003 R1.

Mini review?
Handling, riding style - sit up or more between sports bike and sit up style?
Power and delevier/weight.

A lovely bit of kit - I have the fact some one.
Seat cowl, end can Jon done 👍

I've had mine 6 years now and seem to find anything I want to replace it with.

Is it against the law to get your knee down on the road as long as you are within the speed limits?

Very interesting topic this.

I've always ridden sports bikes, had my 2003 R1 for the last 6 years and now considering something else.
I commute daily on my bike circa 20miles, some town, some A roads, a nice mix. I've never ridden a naked so I'm used to the "pain".

I plan to take out GSXR 750, a few sports bikes and some naked's for a test and see which is nice/easier to live with.
That said I do prefer the look of a faired bike too.

But for fun I ride my KTM 250 exc 2 Stroke - should have bought one years ago.

Bike Talk / Re: Track bike or road bike?

I'd have to say road bike too. Been tempted to go track only but a lot of time and effort and track days are getting expensive.

I use my R1 daily and hoon around a bit more in the good weather and try to do 4-5 TD a year - best of both worlds.

Always been Arai, until 2 years ago and switched to Shoei.

Much happier with the comfort, weight and visor mech.

Nice bike and good colour too.
Needs black rear-sets.

Where are the pillion foot pegs?! Awkward.

I commute and use my lid 5 days a week, it'll be around 5 years old when I replace it.

Therefore the break down of costs for my say £480 lid are;
Yearly £96
Weekly £1.84
Daily 26p
Over 5 years, 26p a day - drop the crisps from your lunch, done.

I bought a Shoei NXR Shakey Byrne rep year and a half ago.

Great lid, very quiet and very comfortable, had an Aria until them.

Bike Talk / Re: 'Show plates'
July 16, 2016, 09:56:53 PM

Always put a 7x5 plate on my bike and never been stopped.

It's not ridiculously small and much better then the standard airbrake plate.
