Project starts here ...
Plans for 2015 involve some short circuit racing with some Endurance Racing.
And when does the bike arrive?
Depends if his name is pulled out of Yamaha's R1M "register your interest" hat.
If not, it'll be an inferior bike ;-)
New Beemer it is then ;)
interested to know your brief opinion of zx10 vs s1000rr as a endurance bike?
as a longshot I am thinking about dipping my toe into the 1000cc novice class next year, funds permitting for a race or two initially.

Both are excellent in terms of suitability for Endurance....
In terms of running costs the kawasaki is quite a bit cheaper in terms of wear and tear (OEM parts) else theres not that much difference between them. In terms of the bikes overall, the BMW is a better bike built quality wise (quite noticeable) and the gearbox much easier to get to grips with.
Power - theres little between them all be told a few BHP although they go about their business quite differently. The Kawasaki is more demanding to ride fast - its top end makes it a bit more of a handful and therefore harder work. Not a issue short circuit racing, but definately starts to show after 3 hours in the seat.
Electronics - both are next to hopeless in stock trim once your speed is approaching superstock times, they simply are too intrusive. Kawasaki Kit ECU is very good and BMW's RCK2 is quite something else (and only £800 which for BMW is cheap). The ABS on the BMW Is good enough to live upto the race dept hyper that you cant tuck the front on the brakes - its saved my carcass at least once in 2014 (melbourne at donington in the rain).
For sure the BMW is perhaps a bit more fussy setup wise but we put that down to it being developed on European tracks which tend to be open, fast and flowing and less stop/start.
Either will be more than capable in endurance but I've gone quite a bit quicker on the BMW that I did on the ZX10R.
So, still awaiting a final date from Yamaha for the bike.
YEC parts ordered (ooooooerrrrrr Mr - if you think the BMW was hyper geeky this is gonna really upset the forums Luddites))
Fairings Ordered
Paint Design sorted.
Team mate(s) for 2015 sorted.
New Van sorted.
Leather, boots, lids, gloves sorted.
DBR Rearsets designed and ordered.
Tyre contract sorted.
GBR Engine covers ordered.
Now time for a lay down ....
Congrats!!!!
Can't wait to see it.

There are no production bikes out yet.
I have a date for it :-) Finally ...
excellent news..... 2016? ;)

jammy wanker
love you
There's a guy in the R1 forum selling his R1M as his "circumstances have changed".
He's getting an awful lot of shit for asking above RRP. I suspect there might be a few like this.
I am seriously considering ordering a standard bike now.....

No point in the R1M for racing really unless you really want to have the skyhook suspension. The c/f will come off, the monoblocs will come off and the electronics parts are all available from the YEC catalogue for <£750 so ultimately most of the goodies will hang up in the garage.
Stock bike the way to go :-) Most importantly the motor and electronics package is the same ....

Oh yes, six sets arrived. 4KG lighter than OEM per pair.
PFM disks and carriers to go on them Monday.
They weren't on the list, neither were the PFM discs and carriers.
I do like these extras.

I know but they looked so nice, thought it would be rude not too ;-)
4kg lighter per pair than the magnesium oems????
Fucking hell. Either the "first" Magnesium oem wheels ever fitted to a production road bike are fucking heavy or you have your numbers wrong. 4kgs is loads!!!!!

Fully built indeed it is alot. the PFM stuff is quite a chunk of that tho.
Did you know the weight difference between a Moto2 Dunlop slick and a Pirello Diablo Superbike slick ? Irrelevant but surprising fact!
I think I misunderstood then. The wheels alone aren't 4kgs lighter per pair than the oem wheels alone (or are they)???

I wasn't that precise .. yes the fully assembled pair (ready to fit and use) are very close to 4Kg lighter ...
Cool. Can't wait to see it.
Event confirmation just a couple of days away. Do you want me to pencil you in?
