And I suggest that America is the place for Harley's.

They have been getting a hell of a slating here and now Alzo is away to stick needles in his eyes.

Well having just done nearly 3000 miles in 13 days I'd say the Electra Glide was the ideal tool for the roads over there. I got very caught up on the whole thing with so many other Harley's about. The Explorer seemed so revvy after the big V twin. Ok, so once the cruise control would not hold 75 up hill with a head wind and it took a tight wire and 3 gears lower to resume the cruising speed, but it got there.

Would I buy one, no. Did I enjoy it, hell yes. It's a motorcycle and it does what it says on the tin.

Ride easy y'all.

And it looked like you both had a ball over there, our Harley dealership keeps offering me a bike to have a go with and whilst I am really not sure about the whole feet forward thing the idea of properly chillin whilst riding and enjoying the scenery because the bike isnt encouraging you to go warp factor is quite appealing..

Great photo's BTW

We did, thanks. Loved every minute of it. Very laid back.

Photo's don't do the place justice but I did my best with my iPhone.

You rode the bike in its proper environment. I've took test rides of most if not all models....great fun...but I wouldn't buy one and they would be tiring to own in the twisty stuff and City streets.
Oh and I just stick needles in my eyes for fun....can't really blame Harley for that.

PS: I only slagged Harley Davidson on here to wind up Carbon as I was bored...I don't really give a fuck about any bike marque or what people ride.

Followed your adventures with interest on Facebook Jarse. You certainly had the right horse for that course.

I was scheduled to test ride a Forty Eight this weekend but it didn't pan out. I feel a bit like Goldylocks (shut it!!) at the moment; the Buell is a great road bike but not sporty enough and the MV is a great sports bike but too peaky and uncomfortable.

The test ride was offered to me as I'd ordered some parts for the Buell, but the reality is I'd get bored if it within minutes, I know that.

So, whilst the Buell and MV will continue to make wonderful garage ornaments, the search for the perfect road bike goes on!!

I never got bored of my 48 , aslong as its been properly set up it then becomes a completely different animal, I do recommend you give it a proper go ,a lot of dealers have a heavily modded 48 as demo to show off what can be achieved

I will give it a go but I don't expect it to be the answer to my road riding prayers. I've never got comfortable with a prone riding position so I doubt a more reclined one will provide the solution.

That said, I do like the look of them and I even quite like the image of the 48.

The biggest problem I have with HD's is that the components appear low value and not trick enough.

That's where they dropped the ball by not progressing with Eric Buell.

Will be riding this, on the next NW ride-out.

Hopefully the riding position is like the 950sm.

Yup, I'd be willing to bet that there is no way in hell that an HD '48 will be the answer to your road riding prayers, particularly if you consider the Buell insufficiently sporty...

Indeed....... offer's there so I'll take it.

Mitigation against their outrageous Buell parts costs!!!!

Terry, I do need to ride a KTM, but I can't help thinking that it'll be a much faster Buell and I definitely need to lean forward with weight over the front.

Harleys are fine for anybody who has given up on modern bikes. There's nothing wrong with the custom look - each to their own - but at least buy something decent if you are after something to actually ride. If you want one for the image then fine but for anything else............

One of my closest friends gave up riding bikes and started buying Harleys...........he's had a Deuce, XR1200, Rocker C and a 1800cc top of the range Electra Glide which cost £28k new! What a load of over rated, under powered ill handling pig iron they are - it makes me sad.

Irrespective of what you want - custom, cruiser, roadster, sports bike, adventure bike etc, etc there are so many bikes out there that there is no reason to buy a Harley of any kind unless all you want to do is tell people that you own a Harley...........

and breathe..............
