140 ish on the 848 Evo, if i had it tuned , over that but that is more than enough for the road TBH.

I cant see why 200+BHP is needed on a road going bike. you literally can't use it.

i didnt know that, although not sure i would need any more ponies, the 1050 was rapid

I wonder if it's to balance any new emissions regs strangling the engine?

To keep up with the competition...the new generation BMW S1000R with the Shiftcam engine will lead the field soon...a bike for real men...not many on here...😂😉

Real men ride Ducatis ,Komp is therefore already a real man. If he rids himself of the 899 he becomes just another mortal.

I thought I wanted a naked bike coming back to riding.  Got one, did not get on with it. Went back to sports bikes and still love them.

If its an addition to the 899 then sure buy an older naked. If it's a replacement, id say think carefully incase you miss sports bikes.

You could always try something like the newer Honda CBR650R (gets good reviews and not as hard on the wrists apparently) however you might miss the power of a full on sports bike.

Ill always use local recommended specialists over stealers. My 848 had a full service and belts done, brake fluid before it came to me from Riders of Bristol.I hope they carried out the work. If the belts go before I've covered 7500 miles then at least i have come back.

I will be using local specialists i trust for my servicing in future though. Air filters i always change for aftermarket anyhow. Other than the belts on the Ducati ill carry out the basics myself. Oiland filter is a piece of piss on any bike and save myself well over £100. I won't be selling this bike ever so i don't need to worry about full service history.

As you like vehicles with issues, I suggest a Ducati 900SS  or 749

You wouldn't believe some of the damage I've witnessed over the years due to my connection with Phil .. the state of some engines that arrive you can only assume they are fit for the bin.  However the vast majority are fully rebuild-able - even those with more of the moving bits outside the cases than in !

Think the Buell trumps that

Surely unless it fully disintegrates then it can be saved by fitting the fix and stripping the engine to clean it out.

Indeed..... and replacing the crank and various engine bits depending on the damage..... his point is that it's not worth it.

But that is his opinion. Hes talking from a purely black and white cost POV. For you and the sentimental value it holds it probably is.

You can do it slow time over the next year or so etc.  Then when done you know you have a good one which holds the sentimental value as well .

A red one to fo with the new track bike

I'm not a shallow snowflake like you - no need for colour co-ord. Function over form every time.

 There isn't a chance my lid matches my bike. I have AGV now, I like how they fit  :)
