So I've lasted about 6 months without a bike, the sun comes out and I'm back to hankering after another bike :moto:
Don't want to spend loads as it'll be sat in the garage for a lot of the time. But what to buy?
What's a good second hand bike? Naked preferably, or something comfy without it being massive (size wise), don't want a sports bike, doesn't have to be a 1000cc, but needs to be lots of fun

A Street Triple of any vintage...as long as it's in good condition....cheap enough to not cost the earth...enough performance to suit novice through to experience...you would never tire.
hard to beat a street triple I would have thought Foo. What's your budget?
Z900, Z900RS, Street triple, MT07.
Street Triple, you know it's the right answer :azn:
Yep, Street Triple.
cheap road bike. ZX9R
you're welcome
Just looking at the street triple, I could get a 765, for the same price I sold my 675 for.
Or a cb1000r is looking good too, although if I remember rightly they are a tad heavy
ZX1000 SX.
Plenty of fun, but more capable for a long day out.

What's your budget?
KTM 990 SM.
About £6000 ish
I'm selling my 2020 765RS Foo.
Not sure what your budget is?

Plenty to be had for that money...for £500 I'll let you hire my pillion seat for the weekend...😊😉

I don't want too much for it - going for market value! You don't have enough for it you mean 😂
So....what did you get?
I haven't yet. So far the contenders are
Triumph street triple
Cb1000r
Benelli Leoncino trail
Ducati scrambler
KTM 790 duke
Need to get out and sit on a few when I can
I'd not consider the Benelli or the 790 Duke. Too many horror stories.

In what way? Reliability?

Stay clear of KTM....Ducati..and the Benelli unless they are warranted...and even then you need a decent dealership
Honda or Triumph are the choices
If you like the Ducati scrambler Foo how about looking at the Triumph or BMW scramblers?
I don't see the point in the Honda when the Triumph gives you all you need and more.
I'd steer clear of the Triumph Street Scrambler. Lacks power big time.
Honda on looks.
Just been looking at the triumph trident 660. Looks a fun bike?
Good reviews but I think you're too experienced for it. Better with a Street Triple in my book.
Z800 another option?

yes no doubt but you'd be better with a Street Triple and you know it

Noooooooooooooo...it's a beginners bike.
XSR900 might be worth a look too?
Quote from: Jarse on April 08, 2021, 10:10:46 PMZ800 another option?
Love the Z1000r, just a tad over budget

I think they look ace

Xsr 700/900 worth a look. The 700s are cheap have a bit of character and are a bit of an unknown wheelie machine. Had there been a decent one around when I was looking for my last bike I would have gone that route over the street triple.
Ducati scrambler fine for pootling about but dynamically it's Lacking and a heavy old lump.
Z1000r - I'd rather have a mt10 for £500 cheaper that also won't depreciate as much.
Actually thinking of that - I'd have a good look at the mt09... another one I came close to.
The one bike I've never been able to part with is my rsv4 so if you wanted a long term keeper and it had to be a road bike that does everything I would actually bypass the street triple thoughts and get a 2016 on 1100 tuono. Utterly brilliant. I'd go with the R for more road biased suspension. My rsv4 is the R for same reason
what have you ended up getting then faye?
Quote from: little J on April 11, 2021, 10:54:38 AMwhat have you ended up getting then faye?
Probably a headache from looking at all the different options lol
Nothing yet. Wouldn't mind swinging my legs over a few before making a decision.
CMC are doing 1/2 hour showroom appointments at the moment so might take a trip over next weekend.
What did you get Faye?

Nothing yet... found out I can hire a z900 so might end up doing that for the time being whilst I make my mind up. Then I'll end up buying the first thing I looked at, which was a triumph street triple.
