First post and first problem....

Picked up an 05 ZX6R recently. Was attempting to set the suspension back to factory settings when this happened:

Turned the screw and it fell down into the fork. It didn't meet a stop and I don't think I threaded it (I cannot rule out being monumentally cack handed of course!).

Any idea how this can be fixed? How much will it cost? And where to take it local to Reading.

Planning to call MTC tomorrow but would like to know of other/better options.

Bike rode fine prior to this (haven't moved it since).

These caps are screwed into the end of the damper rods. You may be able to retrieve the offending bit if you unscrew the cap.

I has an issue with MTC a number of years ago and have not been back since but that's just my opinion.

The local Kawasaki dealer was on the same road but that's now a supermarket.

Another option would be the guy below, it's on the road from reading to Wokingham but he's a good bloke

Take the cap nut off and investigate would be my first move. Easiest to whip the fork out and you will need to compress the spring to unscrew the cap nut. But you may be able to sort it out.

Got it fixed last week. Apparently something had been cross threaded (the cap I believe, but I'm not going to pretend I understand how it all goes together!). Had both forks overhauled with new oil and seals, plus a full service. So the bike is fighting fit again. Happy days!

I have used MTC and never had a real issue with them, but never really got a very good vibe from them either (can't really put my finger on why). Pegasus (the Kawasaki dealer) moved to a place off the A4 towards Newbury. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ended up using this place: http://www.galloway-motorcycles.co.uk/

Found it via a Google search. Must be new as I've never come across them before. Very good service and will be back.
