Bike Talk / Re: test ride -

i did have a little look at the Japanese offerings, but none of them really get me excited
the only one that peaked my interest at all was the suzuki vstrom

i have a test ride booked on the ktm 1290 adventure Saturday, at least gives me something to compare the multistrada against

Bike Talk / test ride -

I took at v4s multistrada out for a spin at the weekend
as thinking about reducing the fleet back down to just the 2 bikes and trading in the triumph and the ktm. so want something that will allow me some confortable travel, but also still a bit of fun

It was quite impressive, especially the electronics package, although these new bikes all sound far too quiet... you wouldn't know there was a 170bhp v4 between your legs
sports mode was bloody good fun tho.

although i dont think i will be buying one at this time, i cannot afford the S model and the standard one lacks a lot of the basic features i would expect on a bike of this type.
now going to take a look a few alternatives namely the adventure S and the 1200 tiger
any other suggestions?

Bike Talk / MCE in administration

quite surprised to see this

They were not the best insurer, although not the worst either!

perhaps they spent a bit too much money in sponsoring the likes of BSB?

after 6 months the 9 nine t is finally back on the road, it probably doesn't look drastically different but over the winter i thought i would tidy up some of the tatty parts.
a lot of corners were cut by previous owners and bike appears as if may have spent most of life outside so wanted to sort these issues out

i didn't expect it to take quite so long to do everything, but ended up down the rabbit hole and had to do things properly!
some of the upgrades:

powder coated wheels satin black - inc spokes. this my original intention, but would have been several more months to get wheels dismantled and powder coated separately, but happy with the result.
new tyres - figured as had nice new painted wheels would treat bike to new rubber too
new exhaust - didn't like the the silly pro-race GP can that came with it, and the standard one was a bit too big and heavy, so got a nice new "unit" can, very happy with look, sound and weight saving.
flapper removal mod - got a bypass section to replace the flapper and its motor.
black fork tubes - the forks were wrapped when i got it and were lots of sections where could still see the gold underneath. so just got some replacement black tubes from germany.
resprayed the cowl - this was also wrapped when i got it and was coming away, so painted it instead
new rear brake reservoir - much nicer looking AC schnitzer reservoir
new rizoma pegs - didn't like the big rubber standard pegs so replaced
painted rear spring - was a bit of rust coming through the rear spring, so touched up a bit
stainless steel bolts - replaced a lot of tarnished bolts all over the bike with new shiny stainless steel versions
top yoke covers - when the standard bars were replaced for clip ons this left some holes showing on top yolk, so got some ally covers from germany.
Aftermarket air induction cover - just stops bugs from being sucked into airbox
replaced some of the sponge/rubber spacers on the steering dampener
evotech end can bracket - because the sub-frame had been removed this was required for most exhausts

i think thats it?
there are maybe 2/3 more things i would like to do, but will probably have to wait until next winter now.

took it out for a spin Saturday pm and rode like a charm.
happy to have it back the on the road finally  :afro:

Tyres / anyone fit their own tyres?
March 06, 2023, 02:53:27 PM

i need to get the 9 nine t wheels power coated, which means i need to get the tyres off, only to have to fit them back on again once complete a week later.
so have been looking at the tyre changers that appear in my online search.

as i have 3 bikes already thinking saving £50 a pop by fitting these myself could make its money back in a couple of years.

although not sure how good they actually are, and am i likely to just f**k my wheels!

thanks everyone. had a few more donations drop through.
i must work out exactly how much i received from gofundme, as they take some and send to my bank in drips and drabs making it hard to keep track of.

ok i have made another gofundme campaign
whatever i receive i will put into keeping site running, see below
https://www.gofundme.com/f/mcnninjascouk-site-funds?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

when it runs out i will be back here begging again
i am going to cancel the mcnninjas.com domain i think, as was only purchased when the site had to be recovered back in 2013, so will save £22 a year

thanks all

Announcements / site funds time again
February 06, 2023, 02:39:25 PM
hello all

it is now 2 years since i did the gofundme campaign to cover the month hosting and annual domain renewal costs to keep mcnninjas.co.uk up and running.
so if i am to keep it going will need to do something similar again.
annual hosting cost is £43.20, the annual domain renewal is £32.33 (this is both both .co.uk and .com domains so could potentially cancel the .com renewal and reduce this to £11.99)
so about £76 a year or £55 depending on what domains to renew

with how little activity the site is getting nowadays i thought best to see what people thoughts on this were?
in the last 7 days only 17 registered users visited the site and can only see about 4 posts in that same time, but some weeks we get no posts!

ultimately if enough people want it kept and happy to put in the monies then i will keep it going
but maybe it is time to let it die gracefully?

please let me know your thoughts
