I rememeber reading about the track day accident at various places...

Whilst I hate the idea of people suing after they've signed all the forms at the start of the day.... 40 seconds does seem a long time for the red flags not to be waved? It doesn't mention if yellow's were out or not tho.....
Signing a form does not mean waiving the organiser's and owner's duty of care to people.
TD's to get more expensive then....

+1 If they are supervising the sessions, then they need to be on the ball and not expose riders to risk who are not involved in the initial accident.

If there was a failure to get the red flag out quick enough then I guess he has every reason to feel aggrieved. However, it's a tough one to call as the yellow's "could" have been out, in which case he shouldn't have been doing 90mph around a corner.....

Interested to know how they knew it was 40seconds?!

CCTV footage of the area in question?
and lack of marshal on a blind crest. Which i believe is down to the track owners. Cut costs, squeeze staff...it was bound to happen.

The first time I rode Oulton with the CCTV / Light system in place, I was concerned about this type of incident.

yep marshalling is down to the Track owner not the TDO
The only time I've done a heaviest with a lighting system was at Silverstone, in the rain.
Coming out of corners, I was finding it hard to tell the difference between break lights at the next corner and a possible track red light
Lot of "sketchy" information out about this at the moment
I was there on the day and it is not a day to remember
I hate all this "claims direct" type shit that goes on now, all it does is up everybody's costs, however, if it is deemed that the circuit (for whatever reason were at fault) they must pay the penalty
I can see a time where you wont be allowed on a uk circuit without providing evidence of insurance cover

And insurance companies will start providing track cover at a great fee...
My father is a keen sprint racer and was telling me of the problems they now face with insurance after the crash at Brighton where a woman lost her life

Yes it's one big viscous circle really :(
