Title: J1 Forks
Post by: Rubio on March 30, 2014, 09:14:54 PM
I'm currently rebuilding the J1 forks - can the compressions adjustment screws be replaced?

they're behaving very oddly - only clicking about 5 times, then really stiff - no idea whats going on and workshop manual doesn't have anything about removing them.

Hi Rubio,

Had this exact issue - albeit with only one fork - on the other half's J1.

The comp adjusters seize up, and they have to be drilled out to replace - although it can be done with replacement kit from K-tech, etc.

I managed to free it up by using some penetrating fluid around the offending screw, leaving it for a while (a couple of days), then gradually turning the screw further in and out until it freed off - it took me about a week or so all in.
