I've had my B1 for almost 9 years and i'm getting the urge to move on BUT there are other options.
what do you lot reckon?
Hate to say it but GSXR750 mate
My mates 2011 GSXR750 is no quicker in a straight line drag until you get about 140...how many places can you do that on a racetrack in the UK ?
The weak part of the B1 is the handling and the brakes, not the engine IMO

brakes are fixed with SBS duel carbon pads. stops very well now.
handling is much better since adding an elka race shock
Try a 675 for size...they are small...but may suit...handling is by telepathy...engine is grunty...you will not believe until you try one...
675 or GSXR 750 would be my solution. 750 just tops. The fridge, for a 2004 bike is superb.
And you wouldn't pass me ;-)

would love a 7fiddy but they just look gopping (IMO) so that rules it out....

completely pointless hypothetical comment.
you'd never turn up if i said i was gonna be on track for you to pass me!!
Was also told by a technician who worked for 2 years at Cheltenham Trumpet, that most of his time was spent doing waranteee work on the 675 engines...he said they were fragile
Trust the opinion of this bloke, he currently works for Skellerns Yamaha, but has worked for Kawasaki, and KTM in my recollection also, but the only one he has really bad mouthed was the 675 Daytona.

Have to agree have never liked the looks
And your comment about passing Iain wasn't?
He passed Iain at Donny so more of a statement of fact than hypothetical really.
You can put an rr gearbox & slipper in the 636.

And your comment about passing Iain wasn't?
it was a fair comment
If you're thinking seriously about the 675 then speak to Iain (pickled onion) as he has lots of experience of running a 675, both trackdays and now endurance racing.
My money would go 675 btw....and it may do yet.
675 would have my money but...
you probably wont be any quicker on it than the b1.. which is still a cracking bike..
Buy MC101s bike when it becomes available...maybe at the end of the race season Mark?

True, but finding one in a decent condition, or spares when i inevitably stack it, are more difficult to find...

not sure if joking or serious.
either way, my comment was just banter...

As was mine but your reaction to it suggested you thought otherwise.
Either a very clever banter defensive system or you totally unappreciated my banter
yeah, sometimes sentiment gets lost in text...
Indeed it does.....
Race???
if you'll turn up!
675 ... the B1 is pretty basic by modern standards and certainly dont waste time and money on RR parts for it !
B1's are wicked bikes, I loved mine and at the time thought it was the best thing ever. Thing is times have changed, it was more than 8 years ago that I sold mine. When I rode a fairly well sorted one on track a few years back it was just nowhere near as good as I remembered, first thing I noticed was the lack of a slipper clutch after a long period of owning bikes that had one. Still great bikes and I would have another for the road but on track the 600's have moved on massively. I wouldnt sink too much money into expensive track parts for one now.
I quite fancy a 675 having done twins (2 and 4 stroke), fours (IL4,V4 and cross plane 4) so fancy ticking a triple off the to do list. I am aware of the potential engine issues, however I do like the bike enough to buy as wisely as i can and take a chance. I think they look like a cracking track prospect and there are plenty to choose from.

Whose running escrow on the wager ? Drop me a pm when you wanna play ;-)
We would race on identical K4 GSXR 750s, not your multi thousand pound racebike with its electronic babysitter. I'd give you a very good run for your money and we could both wave at Millhouse as we lap him ;)
The older I get, the better I was ;)
