Title: Dyno time
Post by: 1-600-matt on July 04, 2014, 06:13:53 PM
How much do you expect to pay for a custom map on a dyno?

I used a place over in Bristol before and it was about £300 for the gsxr. That sound about right?

Any recommendations for somewhere near Swindon?

I use one of the top Dyno guys in the North West and he charged me £120 for the last map I had done - nearly 3 hours on the Dyno.

http://www.racedevelopments.co.uk are nearish to you, have a good rep but aren't cheap.

Must look for the print out. Maybe that's what I paid in total after I had bough a pc3 as well.

Anyhow, the pc3 purchase has went tits up so no need for dyno time now anyhow. More time to be gained if I carry a bit more corner speed rather than gaining a couple of HP with a pc3!

RR Performance cost me £200, and as Millhouse says they are mainly an engine builder for the race team (mainly road racing, Honda Legends, and the now Tyco team too.)

300 is car map money. Most places for bikes seem to be just over 100.

I have pondered the prospect of tuning,  but the reality is that a couple of extra bhp is irrelevant if it can't be put down on the road, so am looking to get the bike handling and stopping the best it can be for the budget.  Next thing to save for now will be a steering damper.

never found the need for one after fitting the elka shock on mine.

The bike has a C1 shock on it, it doesn't feel anywhere near as flighty as was. The settings were all over the place on both ends, and the damping was set too hard on compression, and not enough on rebound on the back end. It helps to have some guidance from someone who know what they are doing....I still fancy that steering  damper though, but how flipping much are they to buy  :(

if you want a damper try and get the hyperpro RSC its a lot better feel than my ohlins was and you can pick them up on ebay now and again (used) going quite cheap
