So, after the awesomeness of yesterday's track day, I'd now like to add a sports bike to the garage here at Danoir Towers..... the criteria:
- Under £7K
- Exotic
- Won't hemorrhage money
- Future classic
- Looks the bollocks
So far, my list contains:
Ducati 999
Ducati 848
Ducati 1098
KTM RC8
Honda SP1/2
MV F4
Thoughts?
all good choices
is this mainly for road or track use?
if road out of those prob RC8 for me
track... probably the RC8 again if you can get it through noise testing :)

Komp.... it's for garage bling and occasional road use where it will be thrashed up and down the cat and fiddle.... two or three times a year I'll ride it to do a track day.
The 999 is perfect for this as I've been using one recently.

OOPS, never seen exotic in your list. B1 is a future classic though and does not require an AA membership like most on your list ;)

Terry, as much as I've tried I just can't ride quickly upright.
I love the Buell and I'll keep it for bombing around on but the riding position will always be awkward to me

You need to get out on the Buell. We near enough pass your neck of the woods each time we go out.

Dan. Be very careful buying a used RC8.
Lots out there are unsold 2008 bikes wearing later plates. Lots of early bikes have shocking fuelling or many recalls that needed carrying out.
Suggest you view, check its VIN number and then contact a KTM dealer to find out the exact age of the bike and whether it has any recalls outstanding.
A decent RC8 will have an Oberon clutch master cylinder and hopefully either a PC111 or PCV with a decent remap (even with the stock exhaust).

Danoir, I have been just beaten to this thread.... my mate Cham who a few of you lot met on a trackday at Brands has the 1098 and had come from the Aprilia. He maintains, hands down that the Aprilia is a better bike to ride on both road and track. I am sure they both have pro's and cons for ownership but if it's just to ride the bloody thing then that is most definitely where he would advise you spent your money. Maybe worth a try?

Doubt you'll have more fun than on one of these, you won't need to charge it between rides as, in my experience, they always start! Not exactly exotic, but definitely a classic. And I'm biased.

Mv 750 f4 , red and silver, 15700 miles, 12 months tax and MOT, just been serviced and had new cush drive rubbers fitted. Fitted with pc3, rear sets, crg clutch lever and brembo master cylinder. A few age related marks it is 14 years old. classic insurance eligible. £5250.

i have a feeling that is coming up to one of its major services, and that might be why he is selling it as they are not cheap by any means, have a look at an maintainence manual as that one i think involves taking the front of the bike apart.
Personally, I wouldn't touch an old MV with a 10ft barge pole.
