Title: Stuck throttle slide
Post by: Dom1 on August 24, 2014, 12:55:00 AM
Due to rushing to finish a job I have had weeks to do I have managed to get the throttle slide stuck in the carb of my kids PW50.

Any idea how to free it?

Currently disassembling the carb from the float bowl up which is a bit beyond my capability and seems to be having no positive results.

PS if anyone asks you to fit a new throttle cable to a PW50 kick them in the nuts and run away. It is a fiddly arse of a job even before you fuck it up putting te carb top on.

has it jammed because the cable is holding it in place ?

Don't think so, I can move the cable.

Basically there is a right way round for it which I thought had turned it to as it went in level with the carb top, so I screwed the top back on then noticed it was not sitting right, took it off again and then culdn't get the side back out.

According to eBay it's a £25 lesson plus another new throttle cable. Arse of it is that there is no way they are riding it this weekend unless I can get it free.

Probably not an issue anyway, the missus has out her back out so nw we are off to out of hours doctr instead.

There's a pin or screw in the slide bore which stops it rotating.  Also a slot for the cable to pass through in the slide itself.  I'd expect the slide to pull out when the top is unscrewed.

Aye that's the theory but the little bugger won't shift.

Reluctant to cut the new cable and fork out for a new carb when I think one jiggle in the right direction and it will just slide free.

So fucking cross with myself, this was the last easy bit of the job.
