Title: TAS racing running BMW next year!
Post by: simon m on October 29, 2014, 10:31:49 AM
Interesting article I read somewhere now I cannot find it!!!

Anywho I laughed hugely thinking about guy martin on a BMW after his vaguely anti Luftwaffe comments on the spitfire thingy!

Leaves Mickey D Bikeless I think?

Michael Dunlop split with Beemer a couple of weeks back according to a few websites.

He can't seem to cling onto a decent ride. Wonder what the situation is??

I would doubt he would stick for a ride.

Have you seen the Hitler YouTube clip about Dunlop not riding the BMW?

i suspect trying to be like his dad and uncle. working on his own bikes etc making demands his results don't warrant possibly.

or maybe BMW want to try and get a big team success now?.

Shame for mickey D to be honest, could have been a great start to a successful team

If his brother and Guy Martin have similar success, this could prove why he left.

I get the feeling that will likely bounce from one team to another for the rest of his career.

I'm not sure they will. He's better than both of them combined.

He's a superb road racer but it seems his attitude to being a team member is his downfall.

by far the most talented road racer out there at the moment
god knows what he does to piss these teams off
as I would imagine a team would take quite a bit of shit to keep the best riders

The "Road" demonstrates that non of the Dunlops do what is expected of them...and we can speculate until the cows come home...definitely seems at odds with the ambition of this years TT from both parties...and it seemed a match that would bring more success. Hmmmm.

MCN suggest it's because TAS are becoming the official Factory Beemer team in 2015 that MD is not being offered a new contract from factory BMW. He only had a one year deal with Buildbase / Hawk BMW therefore as they are losing the Factory status MD is not fussed about signing for an inferior non-factory team.

His comments about the situation in some interviews don't help him out though.

I suspect he'll come back with s own team and rub everyone's noses in it anyway.

Contracts for the road races last for the duration of the race(s).

Michaels not had a RR contract since the day after his last road race on a Buildbase BMW.

BMW haven't dropped him as there's nothing to drop.  He merely doesn't yet have a 2015 contract.

Media hype...
