still using my bike for work while the weather is still decent'ish and iv'e noticed what i can only describe as a whining sort of noise when i am accelerating it has never done this before... it only does it under load i tried pulling the clutch in and revving it while freewheeling and it stopped but as soon as i let the clutch out and accelerated it started again iv'e had the bike on the paddock stand to spun the backwheel to see if anything might be catching but nothing... apart from this the bike runs fine this has only come about over the last week or so any ideas would be appreciated the bike is an 05 r6 thanks in advance.
Have you spun the front wheel? Could be an airbox leak?
Could be a lot of things..
I haven't spun the front wheel idon't think it's coming from there it only seems to do it under acceleration the bike seems to run fine apart from this noise it's definately not something i have just noticed either :undecided:
Any changes, additions to the bike recently??
Clutch thrust bearing possibly
no none at all.... i think it does it when you shut the throttle as well (clutch out) going to listen for it on the way to work in the morning to make sure i have been that busy listening to it doing it while accelerating :undecided: tbh it's hard to describe
its fine..
Is the wife riding pillion?
I get the same symptom you describe a lot.

:rofl:no couldn't get her anywhere near it so can't blame her for it ;)
Camchain? Camchain Tensioner?
i have 04 R6 and tensioner gone on mine!
Its common for output shaft bearings to whine.
Get it hooned.
The whining noise I usually hear is as I'm walking out the door to go for a ride....

Is the chain got enough slack?
the chain is spot on has about an inch and a bit slack
the output shaft is part of the transmission.
