Title: Brake dust seal question

Doing the brakes on the b1 and got a new set of seals for it
The new dust seal has a slight recess, should it go to the oil side or air side?

Shows two seals, front of one and back of the other to show the recess.

On the inside edge if that prominent lip is slightly softer it should go towards the pad.

I messaged the eBay shop and he said it is just a mould mark from where the moulds split
