Wouldn't surprise me if Dorna just fucked the British round of the GP off the calendar now in light of this :(

At £90 for just a Sunday ticket, I don't think it would be hugely missed.

Me and the gf went to Catalunya for the weekend for the same price of a weekend ticket for Silverstone

Sadly I have to agree. I went to Silverstone last year after Snozzeltoff was kind enough to give me a spare guest pass he had. Although it was a great day out I don't think I could have stomached the price if I'd had to pay it.

if there is no track they will have no choice
and unless silverstone step it unlikely they would race anywhere else

CoW are really fucking things up.

The whole project reminds me of the last time Donny tried to revamp their circuit.

I suspect Dorna will increase the price for the CoW to hold the event when (if) they are ever ready, or not offer it at all.

Wankers

Good question but seeing as Donigton Park does actually exist and CoW are still a figment of peoples imagination I know which way I lean on this. DP were basically asked by CoW to do them a favour but CoW didn't want to stump up much cash?????

it is better now but it's flat and boring IMHO, fast yes without a doubt but plus rubbish for viewing.

I dont understand the bashing Silverstone gets, after being there the for all of the motogps its held recently
I think the viewing its canny good, the last corner at luffield, club, becketts and new complex section offer great views
Track its too long and would like some height changes but has provided some great racing in all the classes

Years ago for the wsb with that micky mouse chicane and shortened national track it was crap but ive enjoyed Silverstone

i have never particularly liked silverstone
it has all the facilities, but lacks atmosphere and character(i know a strange thing to say about a track!!)
and as mentioned the lap is too long and it is too flat
there are very few viewing positions that get you anywhere near track or you can see more than 1 corner at a time
its also far too expensive!! but suspect that is just the uk in general

anyway brno this year and maybe sepang too

I dislike Silverstone for the same reason.  Good on TV but not a good place to go to.

I did a trackday on the full circuit once and half of it felt like a motorway....

Love Silverstone - its the very last place in the UK (Thruxton aside perhaps) where you can truly stretch a modern 1000cc race bike.  Theres nothing slow at Silverstone and it penalises the unfortunate few very hard indeed. Raced there a few times and its one of the best places to race in the UK, circuit, facilities, staff, speed, corner speed, grip, theatre ....

Its they only circuit in the UK that feels like a modern GP circuit (albeit it one of the less interesting ones to view at).

That's what the Moto GP boys were saying last year...they love the fact they can stretch the 1000cc machines...the 250 boys weren't so keen...I thought the facilities were more than adequate...plenty big screens...I'd happily go back.

agreed, the MotoGP I went to a couple of years ago was full of cracking races. The amount of view you get in most places is not as good as I'd like, but still a cracking track I think.

After being at Donny for the bsb didn't feel that close to the bikes apart from the foggy esses where u see very little of the track
At the old hairpin infield or outfield bikes seemed miles away

Will be interesting to see silverstone prices when they are released, the prices Donny were gonna charge were a disgrace!

Weekend grandstand ticket at Jerez on the 2nd last corner is 85quid!

so Donny were waiting for CoW to pay for Donny' track/circuit upgrades?  that sounds like Donny weren't in a position to offer the GP in the first place.  Or weren't willing to sign a guaranteed contract to do so.
