Title: Help support a fellow biker raise money f or S.E.R.V (blood bikes)
Post by: SUPERSTARDJ01 on April 13, 2015, 09:38:06 AM
Please help support me, I'm raising money for S.E.R.V (blood bikers) we deliver life saving blood, plasma, platlets, notes and even baby milk, if you know someone that's been in accident or required life saving surgery out of hours the chances are a blood biker has delivered the blood etc.

I already spend a lot of time fundraising for SERV as my son is a blood runner. Very worthy cause so any extra help is always gratefully received

I inquired a few years ago and said i had a sports bike which they said was no problem at all. If you can give the time its a great cause to support.

really I read it has to be able to have a "blood box" mounted and I cant see that being an easy thing

Fastas son has a z750 and has used the base of a pillion seat with a board attached to it to carry the blood boxes. Works well and the idea could be used for any bike including sports bikes.

Ah! I thought it would have to have like an approved industry standard mounting type of thing

They supply the mount, you just have to find a way to fit it. We used an old pillion seat, took all the padding off and got a mate who's a fabricator to make up a bracket so all he does is swap the cowl for the carrier and jobs a good un. In theory I could use it on my B1 as the seat unit is the same!

Don't forget this is mostly out of hours stuff, over night and weekends. My son gets called out at silly o'clock most times he's on call. Also you don't get to ride one of the liveried bikes ( some of which do have blues and twos) unless you are fully qualified to do so!

not many groups are allowed blues and twos, you have to be an advanced rider to use their bikes, I think our club you have to be advanced regardless, I've had shifts where I've had no call outs and some where I've been out most of the day.

Depends. If he's on call it could be twice a night if it's busy, or not at all! Serv Kent also supply blood to the air ambulance now on a daily basis, he quite often does that one since the birth of his daughter.
