Title: The bug is flaring up again!
Post by: Gilby104 on June 05, 2015, 03:04:05 PM
Decided that I've had my fun in the 350z and putting too many miles on it so getting rid before I bin it or it's worthless. Plan was to get a sensible car.... which I will, honest!

But I see no good reason why I shouldn't have a motorbike for the summer. It needs to be fairly cheep so it's a plausible winter bike for someone to buy at the end of the summer. I think I've settled on this..... thoughts?

So this plan got out of hand.

My plan worked originally and I sold the car and bought an Estate car and an SV650 for commuting on and a bit of weekend fun.

One of those weekends was a track day at RAF Valley..... where the man in the suspension place informed me that my bike wasn't handling well because "it's not a sports bike".... unfortunately, I think that conversation has led to this......

Payment goes through at midnight, not sure when I'm picking her up.

What do you reckon? thought it looked pretty tidy for an 03.

Still think they're a great looking bike, plus it looks mint, it's in the right colour and it was the cheap side of a bargain.

It's a yes from me.

He's a handsome bastard for sure.

Far more testosterone than a girly SV.

She is a looker.

Though I never know why Suzuki don't just use the classic S badge only on their bikes without adding SUZUKI in huge letters on the side.

Excellent. I'm doing the deal today. £2,250 for the bike which includes £750 cash and the SV valued at £1,500. The catch (not really a catch) being that if the onward sell of the SV goes below £1,500 I'll have to pay my mate back that amount.

That is bollocks. How good a mate is he?

He could fucking give it away for £500 and sting you. The bikes change hands, the price to swap is paid. The deal is done. WTF!!

haha, no he's a very good mate and is taking the bike off me to save me having to sell it and is giving me market value (despite being in the trade). I imagine the PX on the bike would be about £1,000.

If the value goes below £1,250 then I get the call on either buying the bike back for the £1,500 we valued it at or I can agree to make up the shortfall. It will likely be the case that he's happy to keep the bike in storage and sell in the Spring.

I've got no concerns.

I'd add that it is my lack of cash available which is stopping me from just buying the bike.... so he is doing me a favour in that sense.

Picked her up yesterday in the howling winds and freezing cold.... nice little 210 mile round trip to remember what all year round riding was like!

Pretty underwhelmed so far but the bike but I think conditions have not been great so far - 105 mile ride on a wet and windy M6 and then a 5 mile town commute and a very slippery underground carpark so far!

Forgot how gutless an IL4 engine was out of the revs..... and how quickly scenery moves when you're up the revs. Get the feeling that if I stick with sports bikes then I'll want my triple back in no time at all.

Need to wait for the sun and a track day before I go making any kind of decisions / judgements!

Having used a road bike for road riding for the last few years..... the one run out I had on the MV convinced me that sports bikes make great garage ornaments.

Still...... come out with Dicko and I up the cat & fiddle next year and you'll love that thing forever
