Title: Rim dent.
Post by: Evil636 on June 09, 2015, 03:22:28 PM
Afternoon people. Just locked the bike up and noticed a flat spot on the front rim where I rode over a bit of slab that was in the road a few weeks ago. I didn't notice it until now and it's not lying air or anything like that but is it going to cause me trouble come mot time? Can they be fixed? It's not buckled the wheel but I know it's there now and want it putting right?
Cheers.

Are you bothered by the flat spot do you have a photo of it? Ive had minor flat spots with absolutely no problems in the past

I'll stick a photo up in the morning when I get to work. It's not losing losing me air or any sleep but just wondered with me swapping the brakes soon if it's an easy job to get sorted for not a few notes then I might aswell but if it's going to cost a bit and it's not bothering me or the bike then I'm quite happy to wait.

Again
not sure why you felt the need to post the picture twice.....

personally id leave it unless it was a high value bike , ive noticed a difference in ride or I was planning on keeping it indefinitely

,whats the bike the wheels on?

I wouldn't comprise safety...wheels brakes and tyres are so vital...some heavy braking on that part of the wheel may cause the bead to deform and cause a blowout...who knows...but one thing is for sure..l personally wouldn't run the risk.

if it does bother you (I don't think it looks all that flat in the photo) give motorliner a call 01622 790 705  ask for tommy and he will do you a good price

Ha Ha the again photo was supposed to be the second view as it wouldn't let me put two pics in one post hence the again. Bloody phone. It's not causing any problems etc and I've been out on it since then and the braking etc is fine no issues so if it doesn't look that bad from the pics I might be inclined to leave it for now. It's on a  03 b1h and I'm not a heavy brake so I think it will be alright.

id have to fix that..  aside from the safety reasons it would do my head in looking at it every day..

made even more obvious with the gay tape..

What I would do is decide it needs fixing, then intend to have it fixed for the remainder of the time I owned the bike...... and never fix it. It's morally and fiscally the best option!

Gay tape won't be there for long lol. You can't see it unless you inspect the wheel but it's in my head knowing it's there.
