well its that's time again the ktm and the f3 zx6r should be going tomorrow (touch wood) going to add a grand to what I get to boost it to £4100 , what do I buy next , it will not be used for commuting , ideas please what bike would you get with the cash etc?
I paid only a couple of hundred more for my MV F4.
Original R1 in white and red?
Early blade?
Something more modern and thoroughly less interesting

the only colour to have imo ,
the blade had entered my mind , but im mostly drawing a blank
ha don't tempt me with the f4 we both know id buy one then have to spend a fortune on it
Why would you spend a fortune on it?

they go wrong! and if it didn't id replace everything with carbon
So what would stop you doing that with any other bike?

have you seen the amount of carbon available for mv's............
i do like the ktm wouldn't mind a newer one or similar that's one idea , on a serious note i wouldn't get another Italian bike till we move the house and it has a nice heated garage to live in
heated garages cause condensation. you need a well ventilated unheated garage dear.

for a low millage model? what's the ride like in comparison with the added weight and the fact its a v-twin
the ktm is being collected in approx. an hour got a call an hour after the advert went live im regretting letting it go , but I guess im a big step closer to new bike
bloody tyre kicker! saw the blank engine casing and got a bit cautious so I showed him the official letter from ktm confirming that the lhs engine casing was replaced under warranty due to flaking paint , and he's all I don't know , he then said what ill do is ill give you £2000 for her , and I then smiled and said what your do is fuck off , he said he's going to think it over and get back to me , he did do a 180mile round trip what gets me is if you pay £2100 (yes I was going to let it go that cheap in my moment of madness) your taking a huge gamble , but £2000 is completely acceptable.....

Quite right to walk away, no-one should commit unless they are 100% sure theirselves.
I could knock up a half decent looking letter from KTM using their logo given 10minutes.

he was just trying to get it cheaper , he walked away because I wouldn't let him use the engine casing as leverage to knock off another £100
I wouldn't worry too much, it's him that did the travelling and you're not exactly desperate to sell.
Plus, the advert has only been up a few hours so I assume it's at a sell-able price.
I literally took the advert down put it up and he rang me, originally I had it for £2400 but ive got it now for £2200
the moment he said ill come pick it up today I thought I don't want to sell this....
he used his works van so it didn't cost him a penny ,

ha that's was my thought ,luckily its not kept there over night and if I did , there is not a hope in hell of anyone stealing it and not getting caught its covered by 4 cctv cameras and there's a steel gate and that's without anyone hearing it and its also outside the windows

Just because it's insured for £3000 it doesn't mean you'd get £3000 for it ;-)
And if it got stolen and you claimed, you wouldn't lose your NCB, but you'd have to declare it still which would still affect your premiun :-p

o yes it does its a pre agreed payout value in the event of a total loss ;)
yeah that would be a pain I guess
im only £100 fully comp on it
On what basis did they agree on this value? Genuine question as insurers will do anything to pay the absolutely minimum book price, minus what they think is reasonable for it's condition.
Its actully insured for that price as apposed to just saying what you think its worth and them giving you the market value think I paid a tenner more , some insurers wont do this but mce will :afro:

i asked if they offered a guaranteed value he took extra details on the condition of the bike the mods etc , and he agreed that £3000 was an acceptable pay-out in the event of a total loss, how ever it wont but say the market value jumped to £4000 or what ever , i would still only get £3000 , does that clear it up?

to have one kept at the flat ( so I can use it everyday with ease) it needs to be able to ascend stairs, which the 640 did in spades
I'm keeping my eyes open for a 690 locally and I wouldn't mind a 950 its definitely a contender

But you will probably purchase one for 2.5k and spend 2k putting it right. ;)

They do not have a good reputation
problem areas:
base gasket
5th gear
speedocable snaps
rear shock eyelet
They are horrific...give it back.

When they briefly went bust they had a few issues so I've heard but it hopefully is not one of the cheaply built ones.
The electrics are also a weak point I've heard.
Is it the Suzuki or Rotax engine?
Its the Suzuki freewind engine
I'm hoping if its done 15k miles and the gasket nor 5th gear has not gone , then there's a good chance they wont , well the gasket at least
