Title: A bit of market research regarding motorcycle recovery
Post by: T.C on January 13, 2016, 07:10:16 PM
I am doing a bit of market research for a project I am working on, so your views would be greatly appreciated.

If you had the opportunity to buy a recovery/breakdown insurance which included -

Recovery after a crash as standard as well as a conventional  breakdown.

Legal expenses insurance included

Recovery to aywhere in the UK

Guranteed to be on site within 1 hour or financial compensation is paid

Recovered by a specialist motorcycle recovery company

1, would you be interested, and 2, how much would you be prepared to pay?

It is still eary days and as I said it is just a bit of market research to get an idea of what the interest might be.

Simple answer to number 1 for me YES

Number 2 is a bit harder, I'd probably be happy to spend up to £10 per month which is a chunk more than I pay for my recovery via insurance co at the mo but that is also euro level cover..

For me, I'd be very interested in the service but one if it was either a) a viable option to have the recovery with my car recovery or b) it was tagged on as an additional service to my insurance.

if a) then £100 a year, if b) then I guess the cost would be hidden, I'd probably pay an extra £50 over a rival quote if it included a breakdown service like that which was a selling point of the quote.

traditionally I've just gone for an RAC / AA policy which covers me rather than a vehicle. After your experience I'll likely be going for Green Flag next year.

Recovery after a crash as standard as well as a conventional  breakdown. - Yes please.

Legal expenses insurance included - Not really, there is this bloke on a forum I know who has filled me with distrust of insurance appointed legal cover.

Recovery to aywhere in the UK - Yes please

Guranteed to be on site within 1 hour or financial compensation is paid - Good luck finding the end of the particular green lane I am on, I expect to cash in here.

Recovered by a specialist motorcycle recovery company - Yes if I had a road bike that wasn't scratched to bits already.

How much would you be prepared to pay? £50 per year or up to £100 if it included the car.

I don't know who this bloke to whom you refer is, but I agree 100%.  But the rules have changed now where you can tell the LEI provider that you do not intend to use the legal representation you provide but a law firm of your choosing and they cannot refuse this, although they will try.

But this will become relevant and clearer later when I am able to release more information.  At the moment it is just about getting a feel for what the general opinion is.  Hence why all opinons are valid.
