Title: Your B1
Post by: Lord Danoir the first on February 19, 2016, 12:49:06 PM
Just reading that Carbon has a B1 he's 'spent a fortune' which I'd love to see, and I know it was a popular bike among us Ninjas back in the day, so I'd love to see other people's B1's and find out what you did to them (if anything).

So, I'll start off with mine, which Dicko and I shared as a track bike and Dicko built from brand spanking.
(http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Vidal_photos/Bikes/CNV00022-1.jpg) (http://s465.photobucket.com/user/Vidal_photos/media/Bikes/CNV00022-1.jpg.html)
(http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Vidal_photos/Bikes/CNV00023.jpg) (http://s465.photobucket.com/user/Vidal_photos/media/Bikes/CNV00023.jpg.html)

From what I can remember, we had a full acky race system, Ohlins rear shock, K Tech forks, Ohlins damper, race harness, HD engine covers and a few other bits and pieces like rear sets and levers etc. The engine was stock though but it handled beautifully.

Eventually sold to Emma (NG) for a song.

So...... let's see yours.

Grumpy will hopefully be along soon to post some pictures of his.  Rhino had one also, as did Coop.  I may be wrong but I think the B1 was the only modern motorcycle not to be one of Alzo's "keepers".

not particularly trick, i think bertie had some work done on the shock to soften it
my contribution was a really loud stubby scorpion can

If I knew how to put photos up on here I would. Second B1 after the 1st one was written off.
I had the 2nd B1 delivered to my house before it was registered. Frame, swing arm, sub-frame sent off to be powdercoated black. Full Akky system, carbon can. Power commander. Forks sent to Maxton to work their magic. Maxton shock. Braided hoses front and rear. Ohlins steering damper with Harris fitting kit. Harris carbon fibre heel plates. Harris carbon fibre exhaust hanger. Double bubble screen. (Can't remember what make, maybe Puig) Single seat cowl. Decals removed from fairing.

Photos on my FB page. If anyone can help.  :embarrassed:

Had a lovely green one just like Grumpys...probably posted my best time at Knockhill on it...Niall Mackenzie race school...I had just joined here and traded it in for a Black C6F 636...trying to find the picture I posted on Facebook.

Great bike. Shame they royally fucked it right up with the C1.

They did exactly the same with the 10R in 06.

Only picture I have of mine doing a Gobert impression. Can't seem to orientate it right.

Seem to remember it was a carbon Akky and PC111.

Thought at the time the C model was okay....but I must admit when I see one now the arse it horrendous. I enjoyed my B1 despite the rear shock being non existent.

Didn't some guy called 'toypop' who was someone's secret alter-ego on here say that they were the shittest bike ever made?

I used to have a black one that I thought was pretty frikkin dope at the time.

Carbon Akky end can, shock re-sprung by those guys in Sandy that MK Ninja knew that people used to go to for suspension back in the day, Ducati-type steering damper made by somebody other than Ohlins, usual double-bubble screen.

I remember when I test rode it in like 2003 at Lloyd Cooper motorcycles where Greedy Reed from No Limits used to work, having got off a J2.

Felt frikkin' fast, rock hard and a bit mental. Had to buy it.

They'd probably call it a sports tourer now...

I got mine from the Bensons (anyone remember them ?)

As for what I did with it....erm...I rode it, crashed it, rode it, crashed it, rode it, tracked it, rode it, etc

Fitted braided lines, a couple of different end cans, and let Zenodamper use it as his development bike in exchange for a complete strip and custom rebuild of both the forks and shock.

Oh, and ran it with the Bic livery

Will have to dig out some pics of mine. It was in green, bought back in 2004, think it was a less than a year old bike at the time. Fairly standard, I think I added an Akrapovic and link pipe, PCIII, LSL rearsets, Steering damper (cant remember what type), wavy rear disk, tinted screen, tail tidy, braided hoses etc. Managed ok with the stock suspension with a bit of twiddling, the lairy handling was what made it exciting! Ridden on the road with one or two track visits during the year or so I had it. Think that year was the most road miles I have ever done in a year as I used it as transport as well as for fun, preferring to leave the car at home.

I just remember it seemingly went like fook, was flighty, exciting and a world more fun than the pretty but boring Ducati 748 I had before it and much more modern than the Srad 600 I had in '98 which sent me mad with its carb icing. I chopped the B1 in at Taz in 05 for a brand new ZX10R, more of the same only even dafter!

After I had been trackday-ing a while, must have been in 08/09 I had a loan of a mates very trick B1 and it handled amazingly on its WP suspension but wasn't as exciting as I remembered (maybe fixing the suspension made it faster but less dramatic) and by then I had been spoiled with litre 4's, all with slipper clutches fitted. Looking back at all the bikes I have owned its still the only one that I gelled with the first time I rode it and wish I kept a bit longer.

B1/2's I remember on here are the Orange one made famous by Dale Lomas of PB and now ring taxi fame which HP bought and clocked up loads of miles, Danny from Faster by design had a trick one if I remember right, Foo had a black one with flowers. I remember Vidals track bike with some trick bits which was later painted white and was owned by Emma for a while.

Bought it in about 2008 or so as a pretty stock bike. The last couple of years have seen a few things change.
WP shock, WP fork springs, traxxion dynamic piston kit, custom front wheel spacers, arrow steering damper, brembo mc, brembo discs, brembo pads, braided lines, CRG clutch lever, samco hoses, sigma slipper clutch, chain and sprockets, pc3 and custom map, piper cross filter, pipewerx can, rearsets, quick action throttle, NRC engine casings, dented tank and finished off with a shit paint job.
