Title: Squeaky boots .
Post by: 7550 on May 06, 2016, 04:18:39 PM
I got a new pair of Sidi ST Goretex and they squeak like f**k when i walk. My old Sidis had a squeak too, though not as loud. On the old ones I used WD40 and that stopped the noise. Does  anyone know if it will be ok to use WD40 on the Goretex ones or has anyone any other product recomendations ? I read somewhere to use Mr Sheen. Cheers.

Are you sure it's not your feet squeaking?  ;)

I've just bought the same and they are totally quiet, and my old Sidi's were too.... Odd!

Maybe a silicon lubricant would be better/safer than WD40? The Gore-tex website suggests that cleaning/treating products for the non-waterproof outer materials won't harm the Gore-tex fabric.

Surely the Goretex lining is on the inside of the boot so anything applied to the outside as long as it isn't excessive won't matter? I can't see a little squirt of anything affecting the lining.

Squeak has now been sorted. Took the wee covers off at the ankles. Undo screws, put a smear of vaseline (or beeswax ) on the boot between the joints. Both sides of boot and both boots done. Silence is golden. :)

Thanks to Tucker for the remedy.
