Title: Bennetts Insurance
Post by: MOzZereLLa on June 20, 2016, 12:21:31 PM
Have come up cheapest by far (taking into account xs and features included) for the bike renewal.

I've never used them before.

Any shitty experiences out there?

i wouldn't use them again
their charges for moving house and altering or cancelling policies early are complete piss takes
i know this isnt unique to bennett's
thankfully never had to claim, but would also expect them to charge me for that somehow too

for my SV650 they were the cheapest by about 400%. When I came to change bike the increase was ridiculous. Also, cancelling the policy was prohibitively expensive so had to keep the policy. No experience other than that, but not had to make a claim off them.

I'll ask them about moving house admin charges and see if I can't negotiate that.

They have an xs £150 less and include kit insurance, breakdown and legal cover for £30 less than Bikesure want.

Seems a good deal if you never change your bike or address mid policy

I felt cheated by them. They were not the best price for the Explorer but I knew I'd be adding the Twin so was looking multi bike. When I came to add it they were ridiculous. I was close to cancelling as a mater of principal but in the end, reluctantly went with it. I won't renew with them though.

You don't need legal cover, so ask them to take it off.  That will save you about £30.  If you have to make a claim, you do not have to go through them.  You can choose any legal representation of your choosing in the event of injury, and there are specialists out there who handle damage only claims.  Your insurers initially do not even need to be made aware of a potential claim if it is npt your fault.

If the cause of the crash is your fault, that is why you have insurance in the first place, to cover damage and injury to a third party and/or theor property.

Have ditched them after getting a far lower quote using bike insurer website, quote was nearly a quarter of the price they were charging

Well, I went with them in the end.

Cons. Yes the admin charges are a joke (as we are supposed to be moving house in Aug) - £32 to change address etc.

Pros. Even with that charge, they were still £10 cheaper than Bikesure who I've been with for donkeys. Bennetts had a lower excess, kit insurance up to £1500 and RAC breakdown cover included too (even though it's not really needed you couldn't take it off) over and above Bikesure.

£174 FC protected for the S1000R. Happy with that.

Personally I've always gone with the insurance company that employs the fittest wimmin' on their advertising stands at shows and race meetings.  Extra marks for tightness of lycra to cleavage ratio.
I feel they should be encouraged to keep standards high.

Had a message saying they couldn't take payment for my renewal(automatic) cos my card has changed in the interim. Phoned them up and with a change of address and a new policy, I saved £150. R6 is now 100 english pounds to insure a year, fully comp. Deffo not going to auto renew any of my policies in the future.

I always ask for auto renew to be removed from the account.

In all honesty, you'd have to be pretty stupid to have it. It almost like you inviting the insurance company to name their price!!
