Well I've gone and done it after all the chat about 'super nakeds' in the other thread..
pushed the buy it now button on this..
Excuse the crap pics. Some better ones will be posted soon after I've taken delivery of it..

TBH it was not my first choice of colour but the waiting time for any colours was about 4 months and they this one unsold in the show room..
Rode the demo again today just to make my mind up and what a machine it is..
Hopefully getting it this weekend and then they will fit my Akro end can at the 600 mile service in a couple of weeks..
It's a bit of a marmite bike in terms of looks but I actually quite like it and you can't see it once you on the move..
There are a few things I have in mind such as a rad guard and a tail tidy but those things will get done as and when. Next couple of days will be spent returning my FZ8 to it's standard form before selling off all the stuff and that will pay for some goodies..
Can't friggin' wait now.. and insurance is a pretty reasonable £250 fuly comp.. bonus..
Congratulations. Have many happy (fast) safe miles onboard. ;) :moto:
Nice one mate - enjoy it!
Happy New bike mate :azn:
Enjoy..
Happy New Bike Day!
How does it compare with the Fazer?
marmite is one way of putting it ;)
enjoy mate
new bike day is always a special occasion :moto:
Happy new bike day. What is it?

Happy new bike day. What is it?
Yamaha MT10. Essentially a naked R1
Very nice. The blue would be my colour choice.
I wouldn't bother with the Akra, I'd go with a decat and can instead and a Seton remap
Has it got the QS or is it an upgrade that a dealer can fit?
velly nice Mr!! Giz a go?
Like it, great choice.
Enjoy :moto:
Nice bike.
Whats with the reflector on the front mudguard? Thought only the American models had those?

They cut me a bit of a deal on the akra and TBH out of all the aftermarket cans I've seen it's the best looking by quite a margin.. and I know what it sounds like as the demo had one fitted..
Decat and re-map are future options. There are some cosmetic things I want to take care of first..
QS is a £200 option but I've never had one or felt the need as I'm quite used to clutchless changing so it's a nice to have. A rad guard is higher up on the to do list. Oil cooler has one as standard but not the radiator for some reason..

yeah my thoughts as well. but they will be the first things to go as they are only held on with a single bolt.. Then it's tail tidy and a couple of other bits just to clean it up abit..
roll on weekend.. hope the weathers nice or else it will be traction control set to the max and just wobble it home..

Happy New Bike Day!
How does it compare with the Fazer?
TBH it feels very similar to the FZ8 just 25% extra.. everywhere.. The suspension is the biggest weakness with the FZ8 even with the upgrades that I made and riding the MT10 just highlights that weakness even more.. and obviously the MT10 is a rocket ship in comparison as you'd expect with an extra 40 bhp and 20 or 30 ft/lbs on top.
just cant wait to settle in with it, get it set up for me and make it mine with a few 'tweaks'
Saw one of those in the Grey at Matlock today, still not convinced about the styling but the rider got off with a big smile on his face.
Enjoy your new toy. :afro:
Still not sure of the looks, but all the new naked bikes are a bit marmite,IMO.
It will go though, that's for sure. :moto: :moto:
So did you get a QS?
You NEED one. Best £200 you'll ever spend. Clutch less is one thing. Full throttle shifting is something entirely better.

THIS :azn:
no QS yet but once I've sold all the goodies from my FZ8 then maybe I might find it in my heart to buy one after the first service and I get my can fitted..
Well it's started already. only had it since Friday.
Done 200 miles already so excuse the dirt.....
started like this..

not 100% convinced on the carbon cover on the Akra but the OE guard does not fit..
anyway, whole bike shots...

Enjoy.. I know I am..
Just R&G Aero bungs to fit when they arrive..
Also colour coded a few sliver bolts to black and the sprayed the oil cooler guard black to match the rad guard when it arrives. Subtle little things that make it a bit different from the standard. Still not seen another on the road yet..
Bar end mirrors are also on the list but as yet have not seen a pair that fit the bill and the fitting is different to the ones I had on the FZ8 so new it is when I find some bike specific ones I like.
Decat decat decat decat decat decat......
Fuck me it's ugly. The engine just about makes up for it.
Can looks fine with the carbon cover mate
:thumbright: both really improve the look of the bike.
Enjoy :-)

yeah yeah...
it's a beast in more ways than one.. have a ride on one if you haven't already.. you can have a spin on this one if we ever happen to meet up.
Very kind of you to offer.
I suspect I will try one at some point as the engine is sublime. Be interesting to see what it's like de-tuned for more mid range.

The curves I've seen compared to a full blown are a bit less than how I thought it would be........I expected more everywhere from the MT10 especially in the mid range.

Not good from Yamaha....strangled
If they gave it a full fat R1 motor they would probably never sell another 'flagship' R1. Not good sense to have your bikes compete with each other.
Looks nice. Enjoy your new ride.

Agree...but you want it competing with the class rivals. The engine is obviously capable.
It's still 160 BHP isn't it. Same as the S1R and only about 5 down on the Aprilia.

That's only part of the story as you well know...the S1000RR is 200bhp...but BMW have the S1000R giving more low down power where it's useful. The Midrange is what counts on the day to day stuff.

Less than 140 in the vid I posted...........
It's not the outright power but how much it's below the R1 curve. I would have expected it to beat - or at least match - the R1 to 10k revs? The Ape is a genuine 155 - 160 at the wheel in reality so we talking about 15 bhp difference but again it's the area under the curve that's important.
I never expected the MT10 to match the R1 but I did expect more after reading the initial reports.
Still think it's a step up compared from the other Jap nakeds and I like the mods the OP has done. I would have considered one if it had been out earlier in the year and the only part I don't like is the "fairing".
I don't think they can be bothered developing better midrange. I think they just detune it across the whole range then reduce the gearing. Combined with the upright riding position, it suddenly makes a bike feel like a mid-range monster.
little treat to myself..
plate size is 8 x 6. actually it's probably 7 3/4 x 6 as I had to trim it cause the letters were set to one side. Obviously the person who made it was blind / could not give a toss..
only a couple of hundred miles to go and those wil be taken care of via a little road trip this weekend then it's service time and all hell will break loose.. I hope.. lol..
Aero bungs fitted, just waiting for my Rad guard now from the dealer and we are done.. for now..
PS I have already changed the left hand screw to black..
Impressions so far?

Just getting better each time I ride it.. cant wait to finish running it in so I can have a proper play. but yeah, no regrets at all.. Rides greats, sounds great, looks great IMO. Just all starting to gel together with it.. and I compared it side to side with the Fluro and grey demo bike at another dealer the other day and I think on reflection the Blue is a better colour.. even if it was not my first choice originally.. just cant help thinking about a yellow speed block design though... and it would only be the wheels and tank to change, plus a couple of small bits and bobs so not a huge outlay either.. hhmm..
still haven't seen another one on the road yet.
