Title: Crash on Gravel
Post by: LewisBeGoog on July 25, 2016, 11:49:11 PM
So sadly on my way home earlier I managed to highside the blade after the rear wheel stepped out on the mother of all gravel piles mid corner.

I'm alright apart from a  bruised knee btw.

Am I dreaming if I think I should try and claim this back through the council? I have someone who stopped to help who said they would help if I did. I also have pictures and videos of the corner in question.

From where the wheel washed out to where I landed is only about 10 metres as I really wasn't going that fast.

Honest opinions. I do have fully comp

Richie tried.

I tried.

We both failed, even with TC's lot on the case.

Yea was very lucky it was a proper ow shit the backs gone. Crap it's gripped again. And me and bike fired into the scenery.

I landed flat on my back destroying a 1500 quid work laptop. But had full kit, integral back protection and a full length separate back protector so got up and walked away.

Main injury is from clobbering the bars with my knee as it highsided me :-/

Ask Neil he watched, I was busy.

From what he tells me the rear let go, I got spat out of the seat, it gripped again and threw me in to the wrong side of the road.

Unconscious, broken wrist, severely winded, everything hurt for a couple of weeks. Was wearing all the kit too.

How's the bike?

Crashed on gravel a couple of years ago. It was right down the middle of the road on a nasty bend. The inside of the corner had a water filled pot hole, the outside was cut across by cars driving in the opposite direction, so the ONLY way you could go was through the middle of the gravel.

Contacted the local authority, then contacted my solicitor who told me I was wasting my time, so I never pursued it. Notably, a couple of weeks later and the corner had been resurfaced.

Shit news. Glad you're OK.

General road conditions and the lottery that is possibly every bend could be a deathtrap to us really grips my shit.

It's people like farmers around here who happily drop the whole world of shit onto the roads and do fuck all about it. I'm surprised more aren't seriously hurt as a consequence

bugger!
hope knee heals up ok and bike doesn't take too much work to sort

seems the only way councils work is retroactively, always takes someone to get hurt before they do anything about poor roads :(

Don't think I'll waste Mr breath then :-/. Limping a lot but otherwise okay. Time to speak to the insurance folks and take a closer look at the bike.

Sorry to hear that it always fucks me off when someone goes down due to someone else's negligence , luckily both you and the bike can be fixed (I'd imagine)

Next issue will be the paintwork which isn't stock. Anyone had issues with this when making a claim? I'm nearly at the point that minus excess and offered value it's nealy not work claiming. I'd like to make it into a trackbike by that's not going to way with the wife.

I have always refused the first offer and then by supplying adverts for similar bikes get back to a reasonable value.

How much excess will you get stung for?

I lost out on my kit last time as it was not covered on the home insurance. I reckon all in I lost about a grand.

Need a new lid otherwise kit is fine. I have actually already brought a new lid so no loss there.

Excess is 500. I'd like to turn it into a trackbike but not sure it will wash with Kim.

Tell her its safer, reckon she will buy that, mine did.

Just don't follow it with "But my mate Moz etc etc" or your argument loses all credibility.

Shit news Lewis, real shit.

That was one of a few reasons why I stopped riding on the roads, especially after being directly behind Dom when he did nothing wrong.

Where abouts was it ?
