Title: A bit concerning.
Post by: MOzZereLLa on January 26, 2017, 11:14:17 AM
Anyone heard anything about this?

If true, in one fell swoop, my decent HD TV access to most 2 wheeled bike sport coverage is gone.

Fuck using online "players" - they are just shit.

I'll be gutted if this happens.

Have to say I won't be happy if this happens, but I used the Eurosport player for the last 12 months and found it flawless either AirPlay onto the Apple TV or Chromecasting it. Compared to the MotoGP app it was superb, but I'd rather watch it on the Sky box, especially as the Eurosport app doesn't have a Spoiler free option which meant everytime I went into it I saw who had won before opening the race itself....

Shock horror - I bet that offer ceases to exist after 1 Feb which is the date Discovery are threatening to withdraw their channels from Sky.

The thing that works for me with Sky is the ability to record it.

Ditto! Being able to go back on the app and find it is ok, but I just like the convenience of the Sky box having it all on there.

Confirmed.
Couldn't care less about the bike racing but losing Discovery channels is a right pisser.

Glad I am on Virgin so I can keep up with Alaskan Swamp Logging Moonshiners.

Sadly enough I do watch that sort of thing, it draws you in.

People that have phoned Sky are reporting that the deal isn't done and dusted until Feb 1st so could change yet.

Fingers crossed the use of the word "unlikely"in the opening statement means that it isn't a given we'll lose the channels.

If they do lose it I'll try my luck at a early contract termination and give BT TV a go

I have been watching tennis on Eurosport and they even announced that Sky users would not have Eurosport or any Discovery owned channel from Feb the 2nd so seem true.

Guess it depends who blinks first.

Its a fairly major game of chicken.

Just called Sky.

The lady told me all she's heard all day is calls from concerned customers and that every call is logged and feedback left.

I have a reference number to show I've called before the 1 Feb deadline which suggests if I do want to break the contract I might be able to. She said the reference numbers were only being handed to complainants.

I suggest if you're really arsed with it, call Sky and let them know.

Hopefully, the wankers at Sky management will realise how many of their customers they're pissing off and do something about it.

Actually Sky have been trying to finalise this deal for a year, and still are. Discovery have made it public and ugly.

Just read Discovery want £1bn from Sky for their channels!
Probably serves Sky right for paying so much for the football and setting the precedent, but can't help thinking Discovery are over-valuing themselves.

Do t care who claims to be the winners of the two - the outcome is acceptable.

I only £2.99 a month for Eurosport player, it must have been on a deal but that was years ago and the price has never changed for me.
Never had a problem with it and if you can't watch the races live they're really good at getting the on demand video of it up and running, must faster than BT sport were.
