I was, mate. Still really like the Victory but had two issues. One is that they are a one-trick pony, and the other is I was worried about being stuck with something I'd find impossible to sell on if I needed to.
Got a nagging worry the MT will drag me back to sportsbike mentalism though! :moto:

Yeah it was Decat bike with standard Can I heard...it sounded lovely...but was a tad anti social.
Exactly. I'd like to do it, but with an aftermarket can with some silencing/db killer. I like loud bikes myself but I'm old now and realise not everyone does!

First week of May probably. On order from Yamaha and arrives off the boat on 27th April, so as soon as they can get it to the dealer and unwrap it.
Did you test ride one then DeeDub?
How did it go (other than well considering the outcome)?
Nah, never with all that test ride nonsense :moto:
Not heard a bad word and sitting on one making brum brum noises, while pinging the front brake was enough....
Getting impatient waiting for the bugger now!
an excellent choice.. I've had mine nearly a year and I still love it..
I looked all around at the time for aftermarket end cans and IMO the official akropovic can is the best for looks even if not noise. I know of two people that bought other manufacturer cans that were cheaper and have subsequently changed to the official option.. It's expensive mind.. if you want noise then de-cat is the real option but that involves a remap as you loose the exup valve.
Things I've done to mine are tail tidy, quick shifter and got the suspension set up properly. Other than that I've just ridden it and it's awesome.. engine modes A and B are a bit snatchy in town so I ride in STD mode all of the time and I've not been left behind yet. ;) I also ride in Traction mode 1 as it's open enough to be fun but still a little safety net there should I need it.. Setting the shift light is a bit fiddley but you can ask the dealer to set it to what you want after you've run it in.. I have mine set to 10k so it gives me a chance to change before the rev limit but in the daylight you've got a job to see it anyway unless your looking at the dash, which you wont be at those speeds.
enjoy and i'll be interested to hear your thoughts and what you're gonna do to it..
I like the Arrow can, although I'm looking at a few other things first.
Evotech tail tidy and might get the oil cooler and rad guard as they look a bit vulnerable. Paddock stand lifters (and a new stand) are a definite need and will probably be first purchase.
Billet levers, rearsets, chain adjusters and captive wheel spacers are all high up on the want list.
Might even go for a new shock (K-Tech) and get the forks resprung and valved.
I'll probably get the AIS block off kit, and maybe see what BSD can do with the stock ECU because the new Euro4 regs seem to demand everything runs too lean.
Exhausts cans are a long way down the list because with the Cat and Exup valve in the way it seems purely a cosmetic thing. Not sure about a de-cat. Bit concerned it will be too loud and just piss everyone off.
A remap (even if you don't decay or change the can) sorts out the snatchiness of the higher modes. Transforms the bike.
I can't believe you ride in standard and miss it on the sharpness A mode remapped can bring yet you waste money on the aesthetics of the Akky can which does very little for the bike outside marginally better looks.
Just my 2p
Just to add, I still haven't got the bloody thing!

Ridden a whole 25 miles from dealer but feels great so far. Seems to want to go, but running in at 5000rpm. Power delivery low down reminds me of my SP2 though which is the Crossplane crank alchemy at work I guess. No point buggering about with modes and stuff until its run in but at the moment its on the sharpest one which feels fine. Might soften it for running in if I get bored...
But too much going on on the clocks though. Modes, temperature, gear, blah, blah. Found myself looking at them too much, at stuff I don't need to care about while I'm actually riding.
Pics.....
Glad you are enjoying it so far!

I said many years ago that sports bikes were the only bike to ride, and if you rode owt else you were a twat and an old git. Or words to that effect. Turns out I was a twat regardless of what bike I was riding and my views on bikes would become a little less.........moronic as I grew older.
I quite like the MT-10, it's definitely grown on me in the looks department.

Old photo. It's got an evotech tail tidy and radiator protector now.
Finally ran in and had its first service last week. By Christ it's lively!
What I really want is rearsets and a new rear shock. The standard one isn't very good.
Cracking bike all the same. What's worst with the shock?
The spring is too soft, so to get the sag right I've had to put about three full turns onto it, and theres not much damping there so it feels a bit harsh. Might try a stiffer spring to see if it improves it but worried the rebound damping won't cope.
Maybe I should tinker more.
Think I just ride stuff and put up with shortcomings.

Have you seen what Phil Seton's done to one of them?
Looks a great piece of kit and sorts it all perfectly.
Exhaust, remap and filter for a 20 bhp increase plus all factory restrictions in the throttle removed.
Full suspension setup.
QS and autoblipper. Rear sets and brake improvements.

Last thing these need is more power.
Rearsets and full-on K-Tech Cartridges and Shock are getting perilously close to my credit card though...
I'm not sure the point is more power but more the way it is controlled and delivered.
This is all happening. Rearsets and Yamaha Comfort Seat on. HEL hoses will go on when I can be bothered taking the bike half to bits to get to the ABS pump...
Dropped the forks off at K-Tech this morning to have IDS Cartridges fitted and collect the new shock with the forks later this week.
I'm broke but it's going to be a weapon!

The advantage of one even road riding to balance the bike pre-corner downshifting is huge.

Already got the QS.
Blippers are for the unskilled that don't know how to brake and match revs at the same time....
I'll counter that with using a blipper eliminates the rider and bar movement that's unavoidable with the requirement to pull levers and balance the clutch approaching corners making the bike more stable on braking therefore faster into the corners.
Quick shift up and down is sublime...once you have had it you wont go back.
Call me old fashioned, but there's stuff on a bike I still quite like doing myself.

100% agree...and I too felt the same....then.... :moto: :moto: :azn:
Nah, just not on the radar. My criticisms of the bike were poor suspension and the riding position. Hopefully those are now fixed.
There's nothing wrong with how it goes. Using it hard enough to make the QS worthwhile is like engaging hyperdrive anyway, and I'm not chasing laptimes.
Oddly I would take the downshift over upshift for everyday use...it's actually not all about lap making pace...just makes things a little easier...having now had it on the 3 last keepers I've grown used to it.

The bag looks much bigger in the photo. I had to get it because there is literally no storage on the bike anywhere, not even wallet/phone space under the seat. Nada! It's a right pain because I hate carrying stuff in my pockets on the bike.

Just been doing a recon on the job. Looks like the radiator needs to come off to have even half a chance at getting to the brake line union under the headstock.
I'd kick the ABS into touch and just fit direct lines if I thought it would work without the ECU going mental. Fuxxake. Japanese bikes and their penny-pinching rubber brake hoses....
Should've bought a decent bike DeeDub ;)
Fitted the new shock. I'm admitting defeat on the brake lines and I'll get them fitted when it goes for a service.
Shock was a bit of a nightmare job. Seat, tank, back wheel, suspension linkages, catalytic converter, EXUP valves, O2 sensors all had to come off.
Modern bikes suck. I could swap a shock on my SP2 and Fireblade in an hour, and the fuckers don't throw out the engine light afterwards either....
Engine warning light on after putting it all back together so I've ordered an OBD port fault code reader thing to see what I've managed to fuck up!
I'm hoping it's just a stored code from having some of the sensors off the bike.
That's probably all it is. Presumably you didn't disconnect the battery..... not something one would think to do

No, I didn't. I'd normally avoid electrics like the plague but everything has a bloody sensor attached to it these days!
Aaaaanndd we're back in the game. Bought an OBD reader and the ECU had stored the disconnection of the air temp sensor as a fault. Cleared it down and no more engine light.
You didn't get this shit with good old carbs....
Out for a shakedown run and the suspension upgrades are feeling like a good decision already...

I don't think we are, even if people have declared independence on it. Still only supposed to go out if there's a valid reason. Hooning about because you want to ride a bike does not seem valid.
