Having not had a " big bike " for nearly 3 years and been belting about on the YBR125 as a commuter . I'm looking to treat maself in a few months once i get retired.
I took this out today for a wee run from Edinburgh down the A7.
Colour and nose fairing aint my bag. Will be a black 1200R . Maybe.
Fook me. Torque is amazing. It just pulls in every gear.
Ok. Been 4cyl chap all my days for big bikes. Had a shot on an SP2 over 12 years ago for about 15 minutes. Shat ma pants to be fair.
This is what i found myself on today.
Quite snatchy in traffic out of town. Maybe just me adjusting.
Once out on open road . This thing is crackers. Sound is awesome with Vance and Hines on it. Found it very comfortable once i adjusted myself and kept relaxing as i was aware that i was tensing up having been away from big bike status for so long.
To be honest i was a tad shitting ma pants.
I needn't have worried. It hit 3 figures in a very quick shortshift. Slowed down and tried to see how good it pulled from low down in each gear. Well impressed.
Tried the brakes from a reasonable speed 3 figures.. . and one finger braking. Stops so very fast.
After riding the 125 so often. It felt very heavy on roundabouts, wasn't surprised. At 200KG plus , and my lack of biig bike feel and confidence.
Downside. Sidestand is hidden under exhaust and the boots i was wearing ( old Alpinestars ) gave no movement to get it , had to flick it out by hand. OOOOH ERRR .
Heat from engine once back into town was a bit annoying on inside of knees.. Tho i tend to hug a bike with my legs. Ended up with them out to cool down in Edinburghs glorious 20mph limits.
30mph helped. :moto:
So. My morning was good. Will i buy one ? Probably, second hand and most certainly not from Two Wheels in Edinburgh.

Until Kawasaki released the Z900RS I had this as the best looking Retro...still lovely...but I know where my money will go
Much nicer than the Kwak. Love it.

it may look a bit nicer but my money would go on the Z900RS even though I currently own Triumphs. Both very nice bikes though :azn:
Great looking bike although I must admt I prefer the R-nine-T Racer..
Having not sat on the Kwak. It looks more upright.
Yet i do not want another high revving bike again.
My back problem is one of the reasons i need a more forward stance. Crazy as it might seem. I feel more comfortable in a " sportsbike " position.
I'm open to suggestions and appreciate input regards pros and cons
I would be going for black like this.
Apparently, once you have had black. You don't go anywhere else. Dunno what that infers.... :afro:

More expensive and down on power. Gorgeous machine. Having had a good look at it before i went out on Thruxton.
The Kwak looks too sit up like my ZRX1100 and Z750 which both caused me back and shoulder pain and i never liked them
Will go check it out tho.
Z900 Cafe...inline 4 on the Z is meant to be torque laden and butter smooth...so no need to rev the ass off it...no harm in trying.

Black....White...do you want to get married?
Lovely looking machine, especially in black  :moto:
Had a shot of the R nineT Racer last year at a BMW test day - Tyndrum - Dalmally and back - what a hoot! Throttle more akin to a switch and phenomenal acceleration and engine braking, handled well, just the brakes that could have done with being a little more progressive, felt like they were on a switch too

I'll be test riding a regular R nine T in about a week (and an S1000XR). Looking forward to it. I hope it's even close to this description of the Racer. :moto:
Ray you are going to cream you panties on an XR...they are bloody rapid.
I picked it cos of everything you've been saying about yours. That's my ride for the Saturday. The R nine T is on Sunday.

Tried looking at it on the Kawasaki website. That is a fucking nightmare to negotiate and get info from.
Probably the worse manufacturer website EVER.
It must be designed that way so you say fuck it. I will head to a dealer.
And get some weed....

Spooky. :icon_salut:
Been having a look at it on their website. Easier to look at and get spec etc than on Kawasaki site.
Cheers tho bud. Much appreciated.

 enjoy, hope it is, with a marginally comfier riding position the Racer was a more extreme position that I anticipated - long stretch to the low clip-ons

Yeah, that's what I read yesterday. And that the Racer is kinda lower spec than the 'normal' R nine T. The Racer has a conventional fork but the normal R nine T has USDs. The tank is steel on the Racer and aluminium on the R nine T etc. And the Racer is about £2000 cheaper but the engine is exactly the same in both (I think).

Popped over to Kirkcaldy today. Standard RS has bars too high and wide for my liking.
The Green Cafe felt comfortable enough. Demo ride booked for next week :moto:
