Potential replacement for the Buell, I'd love to know what other people would choose?
Here's the criteria:
- Budget of around 4K
- Road bike
- Must be unusual / rare / quirky..... basically think Buell, but something else.
- Doesn't have to be a great bike as such, and certainly not fast, but think fun to ride.
- Ideally hold its value or have the potential to increase. I've done quite nicely out of the Buell.
Current fave is an original Speed Triple:

Can you even get one for that budget?
Still regret selling my ZRX1100 if that is the sort of thing you're after?

There's one on for 3.5K at the moment. I'd like a minter but they're rare and I expect would push my budget.
I quite fancy an XJ but something like the rex might be a decent call.
Given your locations have you considered something with an off road bias for a bit of green laning / trail riding at home and in Spain.
£3.5k would you get you quite a lot of choice.
As you like vehicles with issues, I suggest a Ducati 900SS or 749

it's an absolute must for Spain...... they make tracks which go right up in to the hills for access for fires........ apparently they're fantastic for riding on, then there are the rambla's which are the dry river beds...... which are ace....... then, about 2 minutes from my house, there's a motox track.
So yes, it's on the list-oh

Sticking with a triple theme, Benelli Tornados creep down to that price
Similar (ish) style to the Buel, a Sachs B805 when they occasionally come up for sale are around that price
Same with a Royal Enfield Fury
interesting call........ I did think about a Royal Enfield
Get a brand new Himalayan for that price too

I quite fancy a Ducati Hypermotard but they seem a bit out of my price range

ZRX is a good shout. And they seem to be going up in value too.
Left field suggestion, but might fit the dirt track use en España: whatever the best Triumph scrambler you can find for £4000?*
Would be quite cool patrolling el bario and the local hills with the right tyres fitted.
*Disclaimer - I have no idea what they sell for.
