Title: E10 fuel
Post by: coyote on June 22, 2021, 12:47:28 PM
With the new E10 fuel being introduced this summer, and if you are not one of the unlucky owners of the 600,000 incompatible vehicles, you will be OK but will have to put up with less MPG and a power loss to your car or bike!

Oh great i think, then i look at the compatible list and non of our 3 bikes are of it!

Why introduce a fuel that is crap and no use to certain vehicles!

(ps i know E5 will still be available for 5 years but then must we scrap all our perfectly good older bikes?

All here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/e10-petrol-explained

how old are your bikes?
i checked both mine, states ktms from 2000 onwards are ok and triumphs from 1990 onwards are compatible?

to be fair it doesn't sound like the conversion is that major, its just degrades older rubber pipes etc

My bike has an E10 sticker on the tank and cars seem to have been OK with E10 since the dark ages.
Super Unleaded will stay E5 I think?

i am pretty sure that means listed year onward. so if your bike is newer than that should be ok
obviously if it isn't then may need to switch some rubber joses out in a few years... or buy a new bike

Will this work?

But doubtful about mixing fuel and water myself.

both my bikes and my old car are ok to use the E10, but i'm just using super unleaded instead for the bike, for a few pence more per litre and a couple of quid more to fill the bike, i know it's better for it. :cheesy:
