I know the 5year helmet life rule but the question is;
Is that usage or once you walk out the shop?
I've just realised my lid is 6years old but for 3 of those years it was off road whilst my leathers were hung up.
So 5 year life due to uv rays etc of from once bought?

The accepted rule of thumb is 5 years from first use outdoors as the UV degradation starts then. What brand will have an impact as will construction. May well be ok for a time..

Flip side of that is if you use it daily then it could be time for a new one much sooner

Arai lid, used it daily. Hung up now using it daily again.

I won't take risks where my bonce is involved so time to shop about.
