For those of you who know me/seen my cbr over the last few years, I am looking to see what people think would be a fair price for my bike (both private and trade)
I know any bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but trying to guage whether i am being realistic or not!!
Its a 99 cbr600fx, with 40K on the clock. Good tyres, tax to Mar14, current mot Oct 13 (but happy to renew if selling private). It has seat cowl, scorpion can, double bubble tinted screen, braded hoses. Also have a brand new honda seat for it (as i had the existing one cut down).
The trade in values i have had to date range from £500 to £1500. The 1500 was appealing but against a bike that was too far away, and is now sold anyway.
I know i would get more for it private, looking at other private sales, the range appears to be £1650-£2000, and the hassle that goes with it!!
The bike itself is great, but after the run on saturday it reinforced how much pain i am in riding it, so i need to change for a more upright bike, as it really is taking the fun out of riding :undecided:

Without seeing pictures its difficult to say, I've seen that model go for around that figure a few times but then where clean bikes, and I know one owner took £1150 for his, but that's because I was being cheeky.
So main question, pictures?

£1500 is reasonable £1200 it's sold quickly basically, so the real question is, what do you want for it?
The 1500 mark would be more like it, would possibly let it go at that!!
so possibly advertise at £1700ono to allow for dropping a bit, which is where my gut thought it would be :azn:
Not planning to be a desperate sale, not yet anyway!! Unless I find something else I want to buy, then I may change my view lol

Spot on, most private sellers expect some level if bargaining from the simple "what's your best price" to the full m6rk, id say go test ride first then consider options

Now I am fairly trusting, but I have had a few emails back and forth with someone enquiring about the cbr, however the latest from him is odd to say the least, as follows:
Nice Hearing back from you..I'm quite satisfied with the condition and price. I will be paying the PayPal charges from my account and i will be paying directly into your PayPal account without any delay,and i hope you have a paypal account. If you have one already, just send me the address to send it to, which is the email address you use for it or you can send me a paypal money request, so once i receive the details i will go ahead with the payment through PayPal and then i will contact my shipping company after you get the payment. I will need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..
so do I tell him to go raffle himself, or has anyone ever had anything like this before, that has been genuine???
Am I correct in thinking that even IF he did put the money into paypal, he can recall the payment? Safe to say I am very suspicious

I've always dealt face to face and cash on collection with proof of insurance and licence.
+2 ignore, I got frustrated reading PayPal and payment so much in the same paragraph let alone his ways of business.
I replied to the guy (politely) and said the only way i was selling was cash and in person.
I have since had another email insisting that he couldnt get to his bank because of his work, and he doesnt have internet banking, but his bank account is linked to paypal ...... he is genuine ...... etc ..... yawn ......
Needless to say it has been ignored!!! More pissed at him wasting my time :rolleyes:

I always want to continue to conversation because I cannot figure out where they actually make the kill in terms of the con.... but curiosity killing the cat and all that!
I assume it's either a bike steal. Other than that I don't know how they would use paypal to crab your cash?
I could be wrong but I am sure with paypal, when someone purchases an item from you, they can pay you and have a set amount of time in which they can change their mind and pull back the payment.
I am guessing that this is what they are up to, pay the money, pick up the bike and paperwork etc, then pull back the money ... free bike with all the paperwork!! Wankers!!

CBRs are a great bike, but if you ain't comfy you need a different bike. Must admit my left hip sometimes gives me jip on the R1, but thankfully that's only occasionally.
