Title: R6 needs a new shock
Post by: Steve R1 on October 19, 2013, 04:50:14 PM
The r6 needs a new shock, the Yamaha one is a stupid price £860 plus vat and fitting.

Been looking on the net found a nitros one.... Are they any good?

Advice as always welcome

It's been an expensive bike week,

can it be rebuilt as that would be cheaper than new?

or ebay  http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=2009+r6+shock&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Speak to Maxton or Kais about possible rebuild

Once read the budget for a factory shock was about £50!

Lots of options.  How much do you want to spend?

Don't want to spend a lot if I can help it, a few hundred max. have set it to hard and it's okish but it will need replacing. Not too sure if it will last the winter though.

Haven't a clue if it can be repaired.

speak to  http://www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk/

or

http://www.kais-performance.co.uk/suspension.htm

they will tell you and how much

To keep the cost down a secondhand one may be the cheapest option but there is always a risk, speak to Andy Dutton as he may have one as he mentioned.
