Title: Mr Yamaha is helping me replace R6 shock
Post by: Steve R1 on November 02, 2013, 08:28:17 AM
My Yamaha dealer rang me yesterday about the rear shock on the R6 ....... It's bottoming out and even though we have set it to its hardest setting it's still doing it.

Originally Yamaha wanted £860 plus vat and fitting. The bike is four and a half years old and done 31k miles. I thought that price was steep.

Anyway got a call yesterday Yamaha have agreed to let me have a rear shock at cost price, £400 fitted..... My dealer has certainly turned up trumps as has Yamaha .......I knew there was a reason why I liked Yamaha  :azn:

Why bother?

You'd get a far superior (used) aftermarket shock for £400.

I don't get your fascination with vastly inferior stock suspension??

The budget for a Sportsbike rear shock from their suppliers is about £60.

£400 for a standard shock is not good value.

Go intron if you are on a budget mate, we'll worth spending the cash on suspension even on a road bike

Take it to Maxton, see if it is worth rebuilding by them.
