On the way home tonight I noticed when I put some speed on at certain revs and on a couple of occasions I would get a grinding noise then it would back off. A bit vague I know but she's had fresh oil the other day and there were no signs of anything in the oil but it was definately a grinding noise no loss of speed or rise in revs but it was there. Anybody point me in a general direction. Thx
Was it grinding or could it have been a vibration? I had similar on my gsxr 750 at around 4000rpm
No this was more higher in the rev range. Closest description I can think of is like a starter motor on a car being turned while the engine is on and then it dies off.
Chain tension?
Miley Cyrus?
Just done a short run and it's over 8k and sounds like a tinny heat shield sort of sound. Brake pads are fine as they are not long replaced. Confused more now.
Are you still sure its grinding and not vibration? For me it was the horn vibrating on the fairing. Even a loose bit of plastic can sound bad after its been echoed through the fairings and up to your ear. Does it do it in neutral?
We'll after stripping cleaning and bleeding the front brakes, adjusted the tension on the chain. Still there like a ringing (loose heat shield) sound at about 8k. Got home today after a short ride today and noticed the exhaust clamp was loose lol. I've tightened it up and will see tomorrow on the way to work but I reckon I sorted it. I checked it the other day but it seemed tight. Doh! Lol
