Mechanical / Re: Wave discs?
September 17, 2015, 12:09:17 PM
Right guys. All fitted up and buttoned up and just been for a ride around the block (all I had time for today). At low speed I.e I have got a bit of judder coming back up through the bars. Got it back in my mates garage and everything is tight but the buttons on the new discs are the points where it has movement when the brakes are applied. Has anyone had this experience with new discs? I know they need more time to bed in and get some hest in them etc but I just want to know if this is not just a problem or something that will eventually fade away. Bare in mind everything is new pads calipers discs etc. When it's rolling though and I apply the brakes it doesn't do it.

I saw a teaser pic on a Japanese bike magazine and the front nose was very H2 esque. Carbon and angular which I really dig. They are getting bleeders at teasing with new arrivals.

Cheers for the info guys. Will keep it all in mind when I come to final fit everything.

Good point. But if at there longest reach they aren't tight then surely when they are compressed from braking etc then they will just flex like a long line would. So theoretically it makes no difference.

The lines from the master cylinder to the calipers, how much free play is actually needed in the lines? Serious point, with the bike in a free state I.e suspended with front forks at full reach and the l8nes from the master cylinder reach the calipers without any intrusion then they are fine correct? They don't physically do anything more than up and down to that same point. Even when turning the master cylinder and forks etc are all in the same place regardless of lean or turn. So if a new set of lines is a nice fit (not stretched or any strain on the lines or joints) just without as much brake line donating or hanging free than normal then they are fine. Am I correct? I know I am mentally but why is the norm to have so much free line just hanging there? I'm asking because my new brakes are exactly as stated and I know in my head they are fine but it made me question it that's all.

Wave discs. When fitting they are labelled L R is that as you sit on the bike? Daft question I know just need to know which way the waves pass through the brakes that's all. Cheers people.

If I go standard new they are a fortune and second hand are in a similar condition to mine so no win there. Gilles is a fortune aswell but all the stories of cheesy fasteners etc. These seem to be a reasonable middle ground bargain. Same material and spec as the top stuff just without the price so if they do turn out to be shit then I can put my originals back on if needs be. For £120 they are like the Chinese levers everyone has. Cheap yes but very good quality as I have them myself.

Stickers lol. That's me sold then. I saw some of there rearsets on a bike at the local meet the other evening and they looked bloody damn good if I don't say so myself. They didn't look cheap and tacky and looked them up and they are more than reasonable on price so just thought I'd see if anyone has got any views.

Has anyone bought/experienced any products from Danmoto? Ebay is awash with their exhausts but their rearsets are on ebay and such and just wondered if anyone has got any views or reviews about their products/service etc?

I've been riding on the maxxis diamonds for a couple of years now and through no choice for stickier rubber and finances always liked them but this time I want to try something a bit different but like you say there are that many views and "personal preferences" till I put them on I'm not going to know.

Just spoke to my regular garage and he has an offer on Bridgestone Bt021's at £180 fitted for the pair. Any body using these as these are right in budget as I speak so just wondered. Are they a decent tyre?

They have been out since at least 2008 from memory so they are probably considered old hat now, but I'm pretty sure everyone said they were a good tyre at the time, although I can't comment.

021's are even older than that I think, they have been replaced by 023 and now T30, good tyres in their day but you can get better.
Someone else said they were an old tyre. I just need something that will last the speed and not go flat so easily. Might have to up my budget I think. Any views on pirelli diablos or Metzeler z6's age? Use etc??
