Bike Talk / Own up..
June 04, 2018, 08:32:55 PM
Whose bike are they after

I've got a couple, and they are still great bikes IMO

I acquired Ninja Al's J1 18 months ago, and use it as a daily runner, hope to do some track days on it at some point when my frozen shoulder settles down... it was in a bit of a sad state, but got it up together after a few weeks of fettling, New battery, stripped and refurbished the calipers/new pads etc,  Did the valve clearances and major service stuff, stuck new tyres on it, Powder coated the wheels, retrofitted projectors

Still got my B1H, Done a lot of mods to it, always work in progress.

Electrical / Clock backlight Colour change on my B1
April 01, 2015, 07:56:57 PM
Thought I'd share. I swapped out the LED's out today on my clocks from the original yellow to some blue ones (why did they use Yellow, reminds me of sodium street lights ? ) . Hoping they will be easier on the eyes. Was more fiddly getting the clocks off than actually doing it.

Bike Talk / The weather !
February 19, 2015, 11:33:55 AM
Now I know this is in the bike section, but as the majority of my thoughts seem to revolve around riding mine, so I'm really very pleased it is pissing down today. I don't need to commute by bike, but still like to get out there on it even at this time if year, however I rode in to work yesterday, and on a fairly gentle throttle in 2nd gear, the back end span up after leaving a junction (at about 7-8k rpm).
Not a problem in its own respect, but you then appreciate that there is so little grip on braking and cornering.

The roads are just so shit and covered in a consistent layer of slippery salty porridge all the time which never dries out, and I think we need about a week of rain to get rid of it.

Roll on the spring :)

Bike Talk / Biking rant
January 07, 2015, 10:59:24 AM
Decided it looked fine this morning, forecast was dry for today so commute in on the bike. Gear up, get the bike out, stab the starter and click, click, click... flat battery
Despite charging it at the weekend, it is flat again (i'm digging the tracker off as it did it to the old battery a few weeks ago and is the only thing now I can attribute it too which is giving the battery a continuous current drain)

Anyhow, changing the battery is a fiddle as they never give you long enough bolts for the little  rectangular terminal nuts so cue lots of cursing from me after dropping them in the battery tray a few times.

Finally get sorted and I'm already 5 minutes late for work. Roads are greasy as hell, traffic is very heavy and I spin the back end up in 2nd on the Evesham road so the rest of the ride is taken very gingerly. Mud on the access road to my works so the bike is dirty again and I'm 20 minutes late in :(

Now sat in work and it is raining so the met office got it wrong again.

FML lol

Who else has a tale of woe this morning

Seen a board for sale on Ebay in Swanage for this Horse boarding thing we are trying to get going (last cheap board lasted about 10 minutes). It is collection only so I don't want to commit unless I can find a way of getting it up to here.

Anyone help Plz :) ?

Bike Talk / Yay, bike is back on the road
September 08, 2014, 09:05:53 AM
I decided to sorn the bike at the beginning of the month and leave it until next spring as I needed another tyre, got a few problems with a frozen shoulder and Golfers elbows (I suspect all related to my Diabetes :'( )

Anyhow, I hoofed it down to my local bike meeting last Wednesday as it was in Cheltenham town centre, and realised how much I would miss out if I stopped at the point.... so got another tyre Saturday and back on the road yesterday.

This Wednesdays bike meeting is at Northleach so weather permitting... I'll be there  :D

Bike Talk / Bike thieves = Joke sentencing
July 25, 2014, 08:18:58 PM
These Yoyo's live less than a mile from me. They were pinching and containerising motorbikes, and then shipping them back to St Helena (Ascension Islands). they reckoned that up to 40 bikes went that way and ended up on the island

Cnuts

Bike Talk / Possible graphic for my B1 ?
July 25, 2014, 06:54:48 PM
I've been toying with the notion of a custom graphic for my B1 (want to get the bike the way I want it before embarking on the Scoot project)

I really didn't want to go down the road of getting it done in monster colours like every other Ninja I see with a paint job so looking at the option of a full colour wrap.

No idea further than this and the back end looks very bare, but got the sprog to shop a design on quickly whether I'd love it or hate it.

What do you think

Love it or hate it ;)

Mate has got a funny wear problem with the front tyre on his J1. Says there isn't a lot of miles on it from fitted (less than 12 months), and they are dual compound tyres ...all road mileage, all on the RHS of the tyre

Bridgestone reckon it may be suspension geometry, what say all you tyre tech heads, is it suspension setup ?

Only front tyre is the issue and less than 1500 miles on it.

Suspension / Well that is the forks off then
June 29, 2014, 07:50:27 PM
I've had one of my forks weeping for a few weeks now on my B1. The bike has never inspired me with the confidence in the way which my old G1 did, so I decided to get them looked at by a local company called http://tillitsuspension.com
Get the forks off and the weeping one stretched out further on the stanchion when picked up. I lean on it and it has zero damping at all. It looks like the damper rod has become detached from the top adjuster. Hope it is just a case of just screwing it back together with the lock nut :(

Anyhow, they were going to look at re shimming the cartridge to improve the mid bit so hopefully I'll see a massive improvement in the handling. I'm hoping that the weeping is down to the damper rod floating and not anything else more terminal (and it's not fcuked anything else inside the fork)

As well as this, the rebound damper rod was missing from the dodgy fork. Very peed off that someone could make such a hash of it and then screw the bike back together to sell it on.
