Bike Talk / Re: Bike cleaning
September 20, 2022, 10:35:33 AM
i just use muc off to clean the bikes themselves, will use GT85 to remove grease/tar, sometimes jet wash to get into the nadgery bits
GT85 or petrol on wheels.. brake disc and chain cleaner are useful to have too
and that's it, all my bikes are black, mainly matt black, so don't use any kind of polish.
i do have some of the autoglym bumper gel i use on some of the plastic bits

treat metal bits with ACF50 in winter and leave on til spring when salt is all gone from roads

Quote from: Dom1 on September 01, 2022, 12:58:23 PMNice choice, would like something like that for a bit of bike meet posing.
it definitely gets attention, even had people taking photos as i rode it home on M25 when picking it up

passed it MOT yesterday which was good, will be taking it on the air ambulance run later this month, the kids will love the noise it makes!

Quote from: 7550 on August 31, 2022, 09:15:49 PMLooks great, although not a fan of brown seats.
Many happy and safe miles.  :moto:  :moto:
And 3 bikes is a nice number to have.
N+1 though.  ;)
the brown seat is nice and comfy tho :)

Bike Talk / new toy

had a hankering for a 9 nine t for a while, love the look of them, and very much interested in the air cooled boxer engine. my idea was a few mods to give it a bit of a cafe racer feel.
so when i came across this with the work done, low mileage, private plate and at a price i could afford i went for it.

put a few miles on it so far, i think may have to revert bars back to standard, as although looks the part, am finding riding position a little aggressive.
loving the noisy can tho and the engine characteristics, although can get a bit twitchy on the gear change down.
very happy with look of it, have a few minor aesthetic bits to tidy up, doesn't look like has been cleaned particularly well over the years.

i had planned to part with one of the existing bikes, but not sure this would be a suitable replacement for either, so for now will be #3 in the fleet.

Mechanical / Re: aftermarket hoses
July 21, 2022, 10:35:36 AM
cheers, i did find this site while searching, but they didn't appear to have hoses for my year speed triple.
newest year i could see mentioned was 2014!

Mechanical / aftermarket hoses
July 21, 2022, 09:42:32 AM
the coolant hoses on the speed triple are horribly discolored, i can get them back to "almost" black again using bumper/trim blackning stuff, but after a few months return to a dirty yellow colour!

i have done a bit of a google, but the only hoses i can find are samco ones for my bike.
is this my only option? anyone know of any other brands that make aftermarket hoses?
i could just buy replacements from triumph, but concerned about them becoming discolored again.

cheers

Announcements / Forum Upgrade - today.. hopefully
May 20, 2022, 10:21:49 AM
hello all

just to advise i plan to upgrade the forum to the latest version of smf later today (assuming i dont get side tracked with actual work)
during the upgrade the site will be out of action, I am told as a large update it may also lose some customization, so may look at bit odd until i can sort.
i doubt anyone will notice, but i thought i should at least give some kind of heads up :)

i really liked the look of the quick release fuel cap that alzo fitted to his bimmer
and was also fed up of having to fish around my pockets for key when fueling
so fitted this at the weekend  :afro:
