It runs, just not well.

Got my son's shitbox CBR125R in the garage at the moment.

It has been stood for a while so I have had it on the trickle charger and it starts and runs after a while to warm up, but its not right.

My current plan is to empty the fuel tank, refill it with fresh fuel and some injector cleaner of some description.

My concern is that it may be a bigger problem than old fuel cos I seem to remember him saying it wasn't running right before he laid it up.

So first, any recommendations for injector cleaner?

Second, any other ideas for the reluctance to start and generally not revving properly? I am thinking maybe head gasket, but I want to rule out the obvious first.

Fresh fuel, clean/replace fuel filter, new plug at least that's where I'd start, you sure it's injected not carbed?

Well bugger me with a fishfork Wikipedia says the 2004 CBR125R is carbed.

Shows how much time I have spent looking at it i.e. not much.

It had a new plug pretty recently so I am starting with the fuel.

The fuel should be ok, I've left fuel longer than that with no problems. Give it a good thrash and see if that sorts it out.

Valve clearances?

Think I may need to purchase a Haynes manual.
