Leaning towards a cheap 955i at the moment. Need something road friendly and not to harsh on the wallet.

That's concerning.

It's a bike in the garage, insured for £2k. Think that's sensible personally but if the bike is that blunt then I'd better make sure the test ride is comprehensive.

Mine is a yr 2000 which I paid £1800 just over 2 years ago. I never test rode it but if I had I still would of bought it as it was for the purpose of touring with the Mrs on the back. As a stand alone bike it does not excite me in any way.

I cant fault it all the same.

May have a lead on a gsxr1000K8 although I'm not sure about modern classic definition but it sounds like it is the sort of bike that meets your high standards of condition (also it's blueprinted) let me know and I can put you in touch with the seller if need be

Moz check out performance bikes I think it was who ran a 955 for a few months adding in the usual upgrades. I think they might have club raced it at some point. Seem to recall it was a project bike for them for a while, might make good reading if the articles are online

Bought a new second hand set of a Dainese leathers so moving in the right direction.

The 955i is still an option (very small service dealer - it's been on his forecourt for over 12 months hence the bargain price ) but Im also considering bidding on a very tidy 954 Blade but it will cost me at last a grand more.

I'm still very taken about owning the 955i. It appeals to my old age and sense of British pride. Still waiting for a dry day to test ride it.

K8 sounds nice Manic but probably outside my budget now.
