So let me get this straight.

Honda and Yamaha have gone for 'moto gp' for the road.

Suzuki is.... well being Suzuki.

Triumph has released more of the same.

Ducati have kept the same bike but made the engine bigger again.

Aprilia and mv augusta are going for the 'new school muscle'

And kawasaki have just gone mental again.
Now with 100% more sarcasm.

MOzZereLLa

Hondas is a very limited edition very expensive never see it on the road bike. The Fireblade is practically unchanged and way down on power.
Significantly faster than you.....

The power of the newer bikes is one thing that got me thinking.

For our roads, very few are actually capable of enjoying with bikes over 200bhp, and no offenceeto anyone, but there is also fewer riders.

So do we need faster bikes or am I already on that long slope to beige trousers and a bmw tourer?

The 200bhp + bikes are bordering on ridiculous....a Triumph Street Triple with 100bhp can barely stretch its legs on the road...loads of money for a whole lifetime of frustration in my book.

you can enjoy a 200bhp+ bike on any roads but like 7/10 modern sports-super bikes you cant use the full potential on the track(some can) and certainly not on the roads but can still be enjoyed I think now its got more to the point of "look how powerful and impressive I am" over actual practical application .

I fully agree with the sentiments broadly expressed in this thread.
The entire Superbike genre has gone down an ever narrowing tunnel....& arrived at a point where most biking mortals can neither afford them or even come close to using their full potential.
In a weird way I sort of have to respect Suzuki & Honda for not getting as-drawn-into it as the rest - & making the Blade & the GSXR slightly more affordable & slightly more relevant for the road.

Jarse

This thread reminds me of MCN when the FZR1000 and GPZ1000's were launched and the "gentlemans agreement" of 100bhp was blown out of the water.

Where will it end, you can't use it on the roads.

I'm not disagreeing with the thread, but having a flashback.

If the 600's where getting supercharged or even turbo's,  then I doubt the usability would be compromised as much,  but to have over 250 brake on the public road, with potholes,  drain covers and the alike,  just seems a bit wasted.

I've spoken to people who have turbo's on their bikes in the past and the same thing has always been said.

"It's great fun,  but you can't use it."
