Triumph Street Triple

I had a test ride booked last weekend following most of the things I have heard on here - and the last bike being a Daytona has definitly made me  a bit of a triumph-o-phile!

Had to cancel because of the weather (which turned out to be a lovely day in the end).... but will certainly be re-booking. Even more excited than I was in the first place now

I converted a Gixer Thou owner to a Street Triple 675R owner. He picks it up in two weeks.

I was a ZX10R owner and traded it in for the Street R

GN, Didn't you have a Speed Triple as well.... how do you compare the Speed and the Street?

I've had both.

The differences were just as you would expect. Speed doesn't handle as well as the Street but has an awesome engine. The Street handles brilliantly due to its weight but the engine isn't as inspiring as the Speed (imo).

Both awesome bikes in their own ways.

The Speed does handle well...stable and planted...just not as light and flickable as the Street...Speed R with Ohlins and lighter wheels puts it closer to the Streets flick ability...both superb bikes...owned both and would be happy with either.

yep, 2008 Speed 1050, stonking engine, loads of torque, handles well, stable, planted a bit slow to steer but great fun, the later one gets different geometry that speeds up the steering a bit without ruining the stability, the R as Alzo says is better again (apparently I've not actually ridden the R).

The Street is different, lighter, really nimble but with great stability, the engine is also stonking in a slightly different way, really torquey for its size but unlike the 1050 it revs as well and in to me that makes it a better engine, but it's marginal.

I do have the Street R which has the Daytona forks, rear shock and the Nissin radial breaks but the standard Street is also  great bike.

Well if either is to suit me it sounds like i was right to look at the Street not the Speed. 8 1/2 stone doesn't get you too far with a bike that won't turn!

I can imagine the Speed can be made to steer better without too much work.  That's where my money would go.

I agree. As much as the Street is awesome a naked bike needs grunt and the 675 just doesn't cut it for me in that respect.

The stability in corners is sublime...it's taller so will take more muscling from end to end...but to say it's slow steering is not how I'd describe it.

bearing in mind mine was a 2008 Speed and compared to the Street the steering is slow, as I said I haven't ridden the Speed R.
