Thinking about getting my ECU re-flashed. Ivans in the States seems to be the preferred choice of Z1000, Z1000SX owners.(Ivans link)= http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/2014z1000.htm
Has any one any experience of re-flashing. Pros ? Cons ? Got the full Akrapovic waiting to go on. Akrapovic say the bike doesn't need any adjustments to run the full system,. So the re-flash is just tweaking it. Does any one know if there is anywhere in the UK that does a re-flash of the ECU for the Z1000SX. Cheers.

Had both my R1s flashed (original banger and the 2015 missile).

Company in Jersey did the first one (posted the ecu to them Special Delivery) and Phil Seton did the missile (to compliment his cat back system and filter).

In both cases the bike was transformed (the Seton R1 went from 182 - 204.7 RWBHP) and I wasn't aware of any downsides at all. None of the other rider aids etc were affected.

Didn't really own either bike long enough to know if the higher output comporomised engines but the ride- ability of both (but especially the first one) were massively improved.

In all honesty, the power of the 2015 bike ruined it for the road as it was too much.
Significantly faster than you.....

It would interesting to see a Dyno run with just the Exhaust system fitted and no reflash or modifications...that is probably a better comparison for you to determine if it's worth the effort.

As you have said there's a few on the Z forum singing Ivan's praises but I haven't checked how many UK owners have had it done but in comparison to a PC I reckon it should be a better result albeit less flexible if you make any other changes..

If you cant do kit ECU then the best UK based and UK supported alternative is WOOLRICH RACING ...

Nick Morgan at MSS can advise.

CJS Racing in Bristol do several Kwaks - might want to add your model to their list?

I took my FZ8 to DWR, he could not flash the ECU on this model but he produced a most excellent map on the PCiii I bought..

Well I sent my ECU away to the States. Apart from Ivan not sending me the block off plates with the ECU ,everything went fine. Fitted the block off plates, and the Akrapovic headers at the same time, as the re-flashed ECU. Happy with the result. Smooth power everywhere in the rev range. Recommend the Ivans re-flash to anyone with a Z1000SX. One happy bunny here.  :moto: :moto:
